That was a hell of a performance by Vegas, especially after the Florida goal in the second period. The just took control of the game, and left them unable to do anything until it was too late.
I feel really happy for Marchessault winning the Conn Smythe: really deserving, and an original Golden Knight. Hell of a ride for the guy.
That's probably what will happen with the big ones. On the other hand, I think that action would also show how Reddit has lost the thread of what makes their community valuable.
I wouldn't mind getting the kind of people who are willing to keep the blackout going as moderators in some parts of the Fediverse, because they've been forced out of Reddit. I'm sure they'll find another place to ply their trade, so to speak :P
I have to go back tomorrow, because I need to see the state of the subreddit I moderate, and see if they want to continue the blackout indefinitely. But I've pretty much made peace with the fact that I'll be deleting my Reddit account at the end of the month.
As a moderator of a fairly large subreddit, r/snowboarding, I am a bit torn. We'd decided that the subreddit would open again on Wednesday, but that decision was made almost two weeks ago, at this point. Personally, I'd want the blackout to continue indefinitely, but I'm also planning to scramble my posts and comments, and delete my account, at the end of the month, if Reddit doesn't come back with a more reasonable approach to API pricing and access. So I don't feel like it's my place to determine if the sub should stay closed or not, as other mods might have different opinions; so I'm gonna leave it in their hands.
That whole "internal memo" reeks of PR, and I wouldn't be surprised at all if it was designed to get "leaked", in the first place. There's a line to garner sympathy for Reddit, and a paragraph to gaslight the public into thinking there's progress being made; because employees, and a good number of the Reddit community, are well aware of what progress is being made, which is not much.
We recently got a switch and love it! I've been sent back to my childhood and get to enjoy playing with my kids now. We've been playing the following. Looking to see what else might be out there too....
If you like tactical RPGs, Fire Emblem Three Houses is fantastic, and replayability is baked into it, to the point you pretty much have to play it at least three times to get the full game experience.
I did the same thing, haha. Replaced the icon for RiF with the PWA for Kbin, deleted the official Reddit app on my phone (which I only used if I needed to upload a video), and logged out of RiF.
I did, however, have had to log into old.reddit a couple of times yesterday, because the people in the community I help moderate keep sending modmail to request access, and I wanted to mark them as read xD
I went to go post a video and it turns out the link is completely dead. trying to manually go to the page seems to just bring up the regular add new link page.
On a related note, I'm not sure if ernest has pointed this out elsewhere, but for now I'm refraining from hosting images and videos inside kbin, because that can quickly increase server space needs, and therefore costs; and make the overall site "heavier". This was my experience while on a small Lemmy instance. What we asked people to do there is to host their images and videos elsewhere (I like Imgur and Streamja, personally), and link to them on Lemmy.
Excellent job by the Nuggets. They played a hell of a series, and really showed that they were the better team on the court, not just on paper.
I have a feeling that something similar is going to play out tomorrow in the NHL, when another gold-themed team from the West will play the cinderella team from Florida in game 5, lol.
Reddit went through some issues for many on Monday, with the outage happening the same day as thousands of subreddits going dark to protest the site’s new API pricing terms....
To add a bit more context, this comment is from a former Reddit dev, who is now the creator and developer of Tildes, one of the Reddit alternatives that's been gaining traction in the last week:
(I used to work as a backend developer at Reddit - I left 6 years ago but I doubt the way things work has changed much)
I think it's extremely unlikely that this is deliberate. The way that Reddit builds "mixed" subreddit listings (where you see posts from multiple subreddits, like users' front pages) is inefficient and strange, and relies heavily on multiple layers of caches. Having so many subreddits private with their posts inaccessible has never happened before, and is probably causing a bunch of issues with this process.
Well, there you go. I dunno what will happen with r/snowboarding, as I've left that decision in the hands of the other mods. I'm pretty much set on deleting my Reddit account this month, so I don't feel I should have as much of a say in what happens to that sub, as the people who still want to stay on Reddit.
But hey, if Kbin and the Fediverse keep growing, I'm sure we'll find other people who like to strap pieces of wood to their feet and fling themselves off a mountain, lol.
Upvotes are pretty meaningless in the fediverse. They're just a visual representation of that instance's opinion on a subject. If you want to increase the exposure of a comment or post, you have to "boost" it. That will increase its notoriety across the entire fediverse.
Yeah, might be neat. If you have a particular group of internet weirdos you enjoy hanging out with, you can invite them to your instance, and set up communities there to chat about your shit. The cool thing is that it won't cost you the ability to interact with kbin, lemmy, or the rest of the fediverse. You just have to do an extra hop, from your own instance.
If you do end up setting it up and making it work, can you teach me? xD I have the inclination, but not the technical know-how, lol.

A lot subreddits end their blackout tomorrow. Will you go back to Reddit, or continue with kbin and the Fediverse?
I haven't used Reddit at all since the blackout began. Even if they change course, the Fediverse is growing on me, and I think I'll stay here....
