They probably can’t see colour very well though. They may have more receptors but they can’t mix those as well as humans so it’s a bit like looking at an 8 bit game with some new colours. Also the resolution of their eyes is abysmal. Birds have one receptor more (UV) and really sharp vision. That’s where it’s at imo.

What's an alternative to Spotify that doesn't play you the same fucking songs over and over?

I am in an intense love-hate relationship with Spotify. It makes good mixes for me, I have found a lot of great bands that way. BUT IT KEEPS REGURGITATING THE SAME SONGS IN THERE. I know about Song Radios and Artist Radios, so please don’t recommend those. Smart Shuttle doesn’t cut it, either....

I think most people use it in bundles with other Apple subscriptions like iCloud and TV

If you really want to buy something invest in a hobby of yours. Buy an instrument, used camera lens, whatever you need to do something you like. Stuff like this may last you a long time if you stick with the hobby.

They’re farmed and supposed to be quite tasty since their skeleton is not completely ossified. Don’t know about the second part though.

Dying from poisoning with Dimethylmercury, which happened to one scientist and it’s like an Alzheimer’s speed run but you don’t see it coming.

True but it might be one of the few reasons websites are even optimised for something else than chrome these days.

So the Saudi investor invests in something that he wants to go broke?

What's the longest time you've had to wait for vehicles to stop so you can cross the street?

Where I live, there’s a law that says all vehicles have to yield for pedestrians at crosswalks. Of course this would be a thing, otherwise crosswalks would only be as good as any part of the road. Despite this, it’s a largely unfollowed rule, to severe degrees. To the extent that me and some friends have a “running gag”...

As a German, I was amazed how well I could bully my way through traffic in Greece with a large van (I think it was necessary though since there were no apparent traffic rules).

Yes, same family at least. Robberflies (Assilidae), they are basically flies evolved to do what dragonflies do except they develop underground instead of in water.

Yeah, even the fucking bone are just deformed human bones. What are the odds that beings that evolved in a totally different tree of life have almost the same bones as an earth fish that went quadruped then biped?

Any dataset sourced from human activity (eg internet text as in Chat GPT) will always contain the current societal bias.

Half cash, half card. I’m from Germany and I think that giving banks the level of control they’d have in a cashless society is one of the dumbest things a society can do.

Man Found Guilty of Child Porn, Because He Ran a Tor Exit Node (The Story of William Weber) - LowEndBox (lowendbox.com)

William Weber, a LowEndTalk member, was raided by Austrian police in 2012 for operating a Tor exit node that was allegedly used to distribute child pornography. If a justice system is so hard to use that only a small portion of the trained professionals can do it adequately it needs a massive overhaul. This of course is basically impossible and won’t happen. The US is a particularly bad case because of the sheer outdatedness of its constitution an court procedures.

Klingt irgendwie problematisch.
