Found a really large disposable #vape in the grass. It seems to allow one of 4 flavours to be selected. But it is still a single-use device. There is no USB-C port for recharging the battery. #ewaste#ecigarrette
The tiny 400mAh #LithiumPolymer#battery in this cheap #Bluetooth#speaker turned into a puffed up pillow. I've replaced it with a 350mAh one I salvaged from a single-use disposable #vape device. In spite of the lower capacity, it is significantly larger than the original battery. Hope it can still fit in the available space.
Also fitted a JST connector to the speaker wires in case I need to disassemble again for a future #repair.
@koje71
A ban on disposable Vapes can not come fast enough
Special offers on disposable vapes at a local supermarket in the Borders yesterday
I can guarantee we will picking up the discarded boxes and batteries when running in the morning. Ban? Ooops no, I forget that a major Tory donor is deeply involved in the sale and dispensing of this toxic waste.
"The liquid used in electronic cigarettes, called e-liquid, typically contains nicotine, propylene glycol, vegetable glycerin, and flavor chemicals. The researchers found propylene glycol/vegetable glycerin alone or along with nicotine enhanced COVID-19 infection through different mechanisms."
I'm not an advocate for minors #vaping, but when, exactly, did the use of enjoyable flavors become a solid indicator of marketing to children? Is it the position of those making that claim that delicious flavors are the exclusive domain of minors? Because that's bullshit. Adults don't suddenly crave bland and mediocre flavors on their 18th birthday. We like tootie-fruity, and blueberry blast, and cool cherry, and all the rest. Delicious flavors ≠marketing to children.
@slcw That's a fair comment, though if I may offer an anecdotal perspective, I vaped for a couple of years, and often had breathlessness and wheezing, and felt they were hurting me - in other words, I don't think they even approach being 'harmless'.
@squig I would counter with my own anecdotal experience. I was struck with multiple pulmonary embolisms in 2013, and couldn't smoke anymore. My pulmonologist suggested switching to a vape, and I've been using it happily since then. I breathe better than I ever have, with no side effects or undesirable symptoms. It's not completely harmless, and people who don't smoke shouldn't start vaping, but there's no rational argument that it's anywhere near as harmful as smoking.
OK, so people who #vape are 19% more likely to develop heart failure than non-vapers. Sounds scary. Except the risk for cigarette smokers is 200-400% higher than non-smokers. And #ecigs aren't just a "little bit" safer than #cigarettes. They are substantially safer than inhaling tobacco smoke. Finally, "#popcornLung" is not associated with nicotine e-cigs. It's caused by vitamin E acetate used in black market THC #vapes. Health disinformation is harmful.
