It probably wouldn't work with Lemmy, but kbin users could do it. Might give the fediverse more attention, but it would need to be more original than a r/place clone.
I agree with you in principle, but speaking from strictly a strategic perspective, /r/place presents a vulnerability that can be exploited without contributing what Reddit really needs to regain its status - content.
In the context of a social media war, this means we can use the space to peel off users who wouldn't have been introduced to the Fediverse otherwise, with no risk of harming ourselves or providing Reddit more than a temporary moment of attention. There's been a concerted effort to remove links to Fediverse resources in many subs, and for a great deal of redditors, they're in the dark about what the Fediverse represents and how much better it is than Reddit.
Plus it's just cool to fuck with Spez, and the Fediverse is so cool in general that I'd love to see what the effect would be if we united against a common enemy.
If I just have C++ and say SDL or Raylib, how do I structure game code to keep it scalable (ie not a huge mess when I add more levels, items, mechanics, etc)? I have been able to make very simple stuff but the moment I try to add to it, it always gets out of hand and I can't really refactor it without starting fresh.
This is what Reddit currently has, and I like to go on subs and set it to all-time so I can see what the most upvoted posts are. I would like to see similar functionality on kbin as well.
I hate the idea of mega threads and they need to stop at Reddit, I don't want that spreading to kbin as well. It's just a way of containing discussion so it isn't seen by new people.
Why am I negative in my reputation? I have not made any posts of comments that are negative (accept for maybe a small one or two but it would have been like 4 to 6 or something). Why am I -46 when I have a highly upvoted thread?
I think if maybe someone just creates a kbin or lemmy mirror site that all it does is collect data from all the instance for google as well as preserving it in the case an instance goes offline would be a great idea
Currently, each thread has the "Activity" link that shows publicly everyone that upvoted/favorite a thread. This is counter norm to many coming from Reddit and newer folks that expected otherwise. I think hiding the list should be high priority in next feature update(removal?) to encourage frictionless upvoting behavior....
I made it so the kbin community would have a place to talk about kbin as well as other subjects. The server isn't official so it isn't endorsed by Ernest like the Matrix chat but it is still a great place to talk. The invite is here
I think that the topics on each individual instance should be related. This would reduce the number of magazines that are duplicated across multiple instances. There could be an instance for technology, another for gaming, one for sports, and maybe one about food, etc. This would make it so you don't have to subscribe to a bunch...
Here is the invite: https://discord.gg/wMfSHBeFwm. I created it as a place for the kbin community to talk and discuss things about kbin and other subjects. Note it is not official and anything I say in the server is not a reflection of ernest or the kbin project itself
I ask that people modmail subreddits that have privated in protest (you can see which ones here: https://reddark.untone.uk/) and ask they put a message about kbin migration into their about section so users trying to see those subs will come here and start communities. It will help grow kbin as well as contribute to the protest....
I definitely don't want people going to kbin.social as it is laggy rn. That would deter the would-be new users. I just think modmailing large subs about kbin is a great way to spread it as these mods can then put kbin in their subs desc.

Sort any subreddit by best of all time, most posts are from >2 years ago. Reddit has been on the decline and there is no sign of that changing

Will we do experiments like Reddit r/place or The Button here on kbin?
It probably wouldn't work with Lemmy, but kbin users could do it. Might give the fediverse more attention, but it would need to be more original than a r/place clone.
Based Romania on r/place (Fuck Spez)
Whats stopping us from creating a "Leave reddit, Join Lemmy" text on r/place?
All this hate towards u/spez only gives reddit engagement. The only way to real success is by making users move to Lemmy.
r/TIHI has been banned for being unmoderated. (old.reddit.com)
My Reddit data dump came through today, and I stumbled across this post from 2015. I'd just like to tell you all that you're welcome. (beehaw.org)
Tongue firmly planted in cheek, of course :P...

Advice on making games without engines?

[Suggestion] Add "all time", "this month", etc to top sort on magazines
This is what Reddit currently has, and I like to go on subs and set it to all-time so I can see what the most upvoted posts are. I would like to see similar functionality on kbin as well.

Question about reputation

Recommend to have the "Upvote" or Favorites list be hidden.

OC I made an unofficial server for Kbin over on discord
I made it so the kbin community would have a place to talk about kbin as well as other subjects. The server isn't official so it isn't endorsed by Ernest like the Matrix chat but it is still a great place to talk. The invite is here
I think kbin instances should be themed to a degree
I think that the topics on each individual instance should be related. This would reduce the number of magazines that are duplicated across multiple instances. OC I ask everyone here to modmail large subreddits about kbin
