Shredding up my Reddit comments (editing them to say fuck spez, linking to Lemmy and Kbin, not deleting but I don't care if they do end up deleted) and I got this....
i like this raw stuff, reminds me of the good old weird social media where you didnt have to have the same opinion as everyone on the platform. for now it feels less politically charged and all of that boring garbage.
i just started watching the first alien movie, and i already know that i wanna play alien isolation again. dayum.
have a good night fellow person of the internet. i dont really know what this section is about (i mean yeah, random), but it feels like you dudes are the ones that know what the origins of social media felt like.
relaxed, weird, sometimes bad words hurt my feelings, but i recovered and realized that the internet is a wild place.
The new age social media really stripp[ed off the "fun" part.
sites like 9gag and ifunny still sometimes feel like 10 years ago.
As if you sit around with your pals at a campfire next to the woods, drink a beer, talk about your day, your work,.. say inappropriate things, insult your bros, laugh,..
for a few seconds/minutes it feels philosophical, then you just talk garbage/smack. and everybody feels good. (most of the time, at least haha)
the mainstream stripped off that feeling,..
now all i can see is Information and more information, and at the same time a barren wasteland. no fun
it got mainstreamed, that was the downfall. when all the instathots and the crying twitter people realized that reddit is a top 10 social media platform and they got there to advertise their garbage, it fell down and slowly died.
.social media should be fun, and sometimes hurt. this platform feels a bit like the good times, cause the toxic people cant bother to go where they wont get enough attention
Rexxit like the other dude said, still is the best term i guess haha
I was initially introduced to Mastodon a few years ago by a close friend and picked up on it quickly given the benefits of not having to deal with advertising, or being shown what a mega-corporation thought I should have to see through algorithms. I have since found a great instance over on cupoftea.social that promotes quality...
i came here from reddit, i hope the mobile experience gets improved quickly, that may help to bring people over.
other than that i think its already pretty nice. feels good to be outta the reddit swamp.
reddit is trash since the instagram models and the fragile twitter crowd came, look at the amiugly subreddit. mostly good looking instagram people posting selfies in there, fishing for attention. its totally done. i also like sites like 9gag and ifunny, cause there you can hang around as if your friends with all of the strangers. talk about stuff, talk some shit, sometimes a bit of bad words and stupid banter, nobody gets hurt over a few words and then we move on. i miss this on the other platforms, you say one thing, just a bit criticism, . . doesnt even have to be controversial and BANG you're gone.
A better UI/UX would destroy the squabbles crowd.
some improvements, especially on mobile would be nice.
and i totally know this is just the beginning.
i am happy to be here.
i usually mostly lurk, but this is a good place to start and be the dude that our dudes need.
Absolutely not, the decline of online communication really started to go berserk with Facebook. Now it’s all just extremists that can’t handle criticism. F zuckerberg
There was a time when social media was fun, now it’s mostly just miserable. Everybody takes stuff too serious. And it’s all just about money. Disgusting. I am happy that I am here now.
[might not really be Reddit] Reddit threatens you for using Power Delete Suite and other tools now

Did you reuse your Reddit name or create a new one?
I originally went with the same name but have been using this one now since it's new and the idea of starting fresh appeals to me....

Will Reddit ever cave in?
Exactly as the title says, do you guys think Reddit will buckle and at least be more reasonable or maybe even reverse their current decisions?...
for the Reddit refugees, do you also feel a bit heartbroken?
For me it feels like breaking up with someone after many years. At the same time, I feel a bit dirty mentioning the name in the post title.
