You know how I know Lemmy has won in the search for an alternative to Reddit? The proliferation of shit-stirring Twitter screenshot reposts with dates cropped out have started to proliferate across the communities.
Don't get me wrong, I don't disagree with the sentiment of the post, but the constant stream of Twitter screenshot reposts is one of the things that eroded the quality of Reddit. They add nothing of value to these conversations other than to stir the pot.
I watched it last night. You hit the nail on the head - it was just like the first episode after the other reboots. Not a bad thing, and I enjoyed it. Still felt like Futurama and the writers continue to respect the continuity of previous seasons, which is something I always appreciate.
Leading energy companies are intent on pushing the world in the opposite direction, expanding fossil fuel production and insisting that there is no alternative. It is evidence that they are motivated not by record warming, but by record profits, experts say.
I enjoyed it. It's a paint-by-numbers movie, but the 2 main actors really did a good job. Adam Driver especially carried the movie. The pacing was a little off and some of the others in this thread mentioned it's shortcomings, but if you're just looking to be entertained this should do it for you.
Family just got one of these dumb things and I need a quick replacement option to order and return this crap. What is there that works offline and I can set up to work with fruit phones? (Not a fruit phone/fruit salad user)
What's funny is I just had a conversation with myanager about how XR is still a niche market. Companies are actually trying to deploy mass management solutions for these devices. Google focusing on the core software and possibly making an Android-like OS for XR could be exactly what this tech needs to push it into mainstream like smartphones
So many thoughts go through my head from the picture and article.
Why go with wireless? If you're insistent on a controller, wouldn't wired make more sense purely for reliability? I'm not an engineer, but I would easily bet that Logitech didn't design the controller with that environment in mind. Also, did they pack extra batteries?
why fully digital? I don't see any backup controls in the picture. What happens if the PC or controller fails?
is it running off a standard PC? PCs can work but aren't optimal for real time needs like this. I hope they didn't just load up some custom software on a Windows PC and call it a day
in another article, they said exterior crew bolted them in. This Echoes of Apollo one. Imagine they're just off course and are able to make it to the surface. What a sad way to die if they were so close to semi-safety but ended up suffocating because they couldn't open the hatch.
This is what happens when the Elon Musks of the world are allowed to pretend to be engineers
I posted about kbin.social in a comment thread from RIF and saw my comment posted, but when I checked under my profile the next day, the comment was gone. Not deleted by mods or reddit....just gone, like it never existed.
This was shortly after reddit banned the kbin subreddit for "spamming".
First time something like that has ever happened in the 10+ years I've been on there. Pretty much cemented my decision to stay away unless major changes happen.
The cruelty is the point
