thanks for your dedication and effort to artemis and kbin, guys. you were and continue to be amazing.
i think during the reddit thing, everyone went in head strong and confident, pouring lots of time into this, including myself, you guys, hariette. we wanted it to succeed so bad. then it seems many got burnt out, or bored, and started to distance, including myself. i can understand why hariette may have effectively left. i mean, she started something huge that required lots of time, dedication, and management from herself and others she brought on board. maybe she didn't realize how much it might take, and when her passion began to falter, so did her will to manage all this and she just isolated from it, ive sadly done that before when i got overwhelmed and burnt out. or maybe its something else entirely? who knows. but either way, there's still an obligation to communicate with the very people who were onboard beside you, to let them know how you're feeling and what might happen to the project, because you guys also dedicated your time to this, and your time matters too. no matter what happened, you were owed an explanation and open communication.
really sorry to hear this guys. you deserved better. thank you again for your effort and time.
Meta/Facebook preinstalls an app called Meta Services (previously Facebook services) on a very large percentage of android devices (I’ve never used one without it) and while they claim it helps updates and synchronisation between different meta apps, it is very suspicious. Why preinstall it on devices of people who will...
Google is way to compliant to DMCA request resulting in bad result. Bing doesnt seems to care and will happily link to live and replay of sport event (the main reason I use it personnaly) even as a first result....
I don’t want to dox myself, but I’ve been at my job for 5+ years. I guess either my boss or I fat fingered something while I was on boarding, cuz just now I was going over some paperwork and… As far as my job is concerned I’m Native American. I am very much white. Nobody ever brought it up....
Yeah they could be lying to the EEOC to cover up discrimination in their hiring process. So it's up to OP to decide if that is what might be going on.
I would love to get all these magical free perks people ITT seem to think we are getting for being native. Where do I sign up? Last time I checked the majority of people on reservations don't even get clean water
As we start to see more users join, it's inevitable to see trolls (especially low-effort trolls) making more of an appearance and trying to be controversial and noticed....
This is a result of the original design. Kbin, up until just before the peak traffic hit, was using boosts as upvotes and favorites/likes were just below the post/thread (where boost sits now). Lemmy does it the way it is now (likes = upvotes) so Ernest changed it to match Lemmy behavior. But just as he changed it, he hadn’t changed the calculation for reputation to match when the server nearly melted down and he has to spend all his time just trying to keep the site alive by himself.
Currently, on the main instance, people have created 40191 accounts (+214 marked as deleted). I don't know how many are active because I don't monitor it, but once again, I greet all of you here :) In recent days, the traffic on the website has been overwhelming. It's definitely too much for the basic docker-compose setup,...

what fact about our current world would freak people out if it were a newspaper headline a century ago?
Some news that would be completely mundane today but scary or shocking in the past.

My job incorrectly thinks I'm Native American, should I tell them?

PSA: Upvote is not an upvote like you are used to (like Reddit) - "Boost" is the Reddit Upvote
Like the title says, if you want to upvote something on KBin, you should use the Boost link, not the upvote button (Why? Don't know...)...
