Of course Oklahoma legislators don't want those chaplains in schools. And, it apparently never occurred to them that allowing one religion means allowing ALL religions. This should be chilling for every American regardless of religious belief. Make America Pray Again? Their candidate proclaimed that parts of the USA were trying to shame them. Anyone wearing this slogan should absolutely be ashamed.

Maybe folks can settle a for me and a friend.
I have a glass measuring cup. I fill it with two cups of water, and microwave it to bring it to a boil. The cup has not come in contact with any other materials or ingredients.
That cup is CLEAN right?
After pouring out the water, it can go back in the cupboard?

@SomeGadgetGuy The one caveat is the microwave needs to be clean, especially the top. With a clean microwave oven, I say the measuring cup is still clean.

@kitoconnell This obviously isn't out of character for Dahm. I wonder, though, whether he's just clueless about the First Amendment implications or if this is just performative. It's obviously at least a little of the latter.

One thing is for sure, the voters of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma are some of the worst voters in the country. It was known who Dahm is well before they elected him.

After figuring out years ago that I can listen better, especially over long periods of time, if I have something to keep my hands busy, I try to always have a project on hand heading into multi-day meetings or conferences.

Ran out of time to prep for this one, so I started winding my skein into a yarn ball during opening remarks, got my sizing swatch done for a one-skein triangle shawl (Moogly Fortune's Shawlette) by the end of One Track Mind, and made a nice bit more progress during the firetalks...

It's the perfect con project - a simple diagonal-box-stitch repeat, no complex counting required. Just add a box every row until I run out of yarn, and then frog back until I have enough yarn left for the edging. 😁

WIP triangle on a white sheet next to my ruler. I frogged the sizing swatch (because I hadn't expected to get it right on the first try and thus wasn't paying as close attention as I would have liked!) and still managed to end up with 8 inches of progress at the end of the evening...

@blogoklahoma Again out-of-touch legislators in Oklahoma City make pronouncements and expect people in rural Oklahoma to find a way to make them happen. Yes, they passed the law in 2020. Meanwhile a pandemic, Oklahoma laws restricting abortion, and the election of Ryan Walters happened.

Finding AP teachers isn't just a challenge of bringing talent to rural Oklahoma. It's now a challenge of bringing talent to an increasingly unfriendly, backward Oklahoma where teachers are compared to terrorists and if a woman finds herself with an unviable pregnancy that threatens her life she has to travel multiple hours to another state to get the medical help she needs. And, that's just the tip of the dysfunctional iceberg that is Oklahoma.

But sure, by all means, rural Oklahoma school districts should just go out there an attract the talent needed.

    Just tried to book a hotel room online. I've been booking hotel rooms online for . . . decades. The website had lots of glitzy, fancy features. No matter where I tapped on my tablet, it brought up new information, loaded additional pages, zoomed in, . . . . The website UI was unusable, but very, very fancy. No doubt whoever was responsible for the budget line item that paid for it was very impressed and got lots of kudos from guys in corner offices. I'd guess these people have assistants who book their hotel rooms for them.

    I, OTOH, really just want the website that I used 20 years ago back. It was usable, fast, effective and allowed me to get the job done.
