How many active accounts do you have/manage in the fediverse?

(Feel free to leave a comment with more details on which networks you're on, and how you use them.)

Beardverse,

@stefan how does anyone have time for more than one? Lol

stefan,
@stefan@stefanbohacek.online avatar

@Beardverse Easy, if you automate them all!

https://stefans-creative-bots.glitch.me

Beardverse,

@stefan lol 😂

bryanruby,
@bryanruby@me.dm avatar

@stefan After answering two, I decided I was better off with just one. I can only be loyal to one profile at a time!

stefan,
@stefan@stefanbohacek.online avatar

@bryanruby You had to try to find out!

BentiGorlich,
@BentiGorlich@wehavecookies.social avatar

@stefan well I have 2 bots and an admin account :cookiemon_smile:

stefan,
@stefan@stefanbohacek.online avatar

@BentiGorlich Nice, keeping it simple!

panamared27401,

@stefan One on mstdn.social, one here on calckey. Looking forward to trying Pixeled and BookWyrm.

Beardverse,

@stefan just my personal. This is my first time on the Fediverse. I joined masto.ai but still looking for my community on here. I'm kinda all over the place lol.

Mainly Sports: NFL/NBA
Games: PokemonGo, MW2
Politics: shits and giggles 🤣🍻

stefan,
@stefan@stefanbohacek.online avatar

@Beardverse Nice, welcome to the fediverse!

laurenshof,

@stefan uhh this is confronting:
3x mastodon (lol)
2x calckey (also lol)
bookwyrm
pixelfed
writefreely
micro.blog
think wordpress with activitypub should probably count?
friendica
hubzilla
funkwhale

laurenshof,

@stefan oh and lemmy

theres so much lol

laurenshof,

@stefan Actually interesting question: at what point does it still count as a fediverse account?

Because you could count flipboard as well for example. Or what about Vivaldi?

maikelthedev,

@laurenshof @stefan if it has activity pub format of the account I would say it is a fediverse account.

stefan, (edited )
@stefan@stefanbohacek.online avatar

@maikelthedev @laurenshof Yep, this is how I'd define it as well.

You have quite a list @laurenshof, I'd love to read about your experience and how these compare!

laurenshof,

@stefan @maikelthedev well i feel its somewhat of my job to try as much as possible of whats available haha, so thats how you end up with so many accounts.

So lots of it is for testing for my website, but I use PixelFed, Calckey and Bookwyrm as legit software for my own personal use.

Pixelfed is great, fully featured product, reminds me of very early insta.

Calckey is really fun with a ton more features over masto, but main is the timeline UX painful. Eagerly awaiting until masto api fully works so I can use Phanpy for it.

Bookwyrm is pretty good, not as good as Goodreads, but since its pretty lowkey/lowstakes usage that doesnt really matter too much. Could import all my data from Goodreads anyway, and I can still easily track my reading lists, so all fine.

I'd recommend more people to try out WriteFreely and Micro.blog. Both are fully featured well defined products, that have clear explicit visions of what blogging can also look like. Personally I settled on WordPress in the end, since my scope and vision has grown beyond blogging per se, but they are good products imo. Especially micro.blog is criminally undercovered.

stefan,
@stefan@stefanbohacek.online avatar

@laurenshof Nice!

I'm personally sticking with Mastodon, but I'm curious about Tumblr going opensource with added ActivityPub support.

I really like the idea of managing all my (micro)blogs under one account, rather than having to switch between multiple of them.

shannonkay,

@stefan My Mastodon account I use the most, but I also have a Calckey account, Bookwyrm, and Pixelfed.

picard,

@stefan Six maybe?

Mastodon
Calckey
Pixelfed
Friendica
Bookwyrm
Plume

Mastodon feels like my 'home' place, but I'm enjoying Calckey too - they do serve a similar purpose, but also feel different.

Pixelfed is cool, for anyone after an instagram replacement.

Friendica I've not really used, just signed up to see what it does - not even really explored it much.

Bookwyrm for book reading stuff, like it but not read much the last few months for reasons.

Plume - blog platform, a bit like WriteFreely. Development suspended for now and they recommend using WriteFreely instead, but I don't know - I found Plume seemed better for what I wanted when I looked into them. Maybe I'll try WriteFreely too, or just go all in on Wordpress with fediverse plugin.

stefan,
@stefan@stefanbohacek.online avatar

@picard That's a really nice summary, thank you!

theresmiling,

@stefan I hit the wrong button! LOL I should have hit 4-8 instead of 2-3.
I started out with Mastodon, but got curious. There's so much to discover in the fediverse! So I also created an account on a Calckey server. I am using it right now.
I also have a Pixelfed and a Bookwyrm account. I'm not super active on them, but I am posting there every now and then.
Eventually I want to decide between Mastodon and Calckey and migrate. But I am not there yet, so I still keep my Mastodon account open. And maybe I'll even try out some other programs.
There is a solution for everyone in the fediverse. I would like to encourage everyone here to look into all the options and just try some out. Every software is different, so go and have a look!

stefan,
@stefan@stefanbohacek.online avatar

@theresmiling Nice, it's good to try different things. You should consider writing a blog post about your experience, I know I'd love to read more about this!

RMiddleton,

@stefan I have 5 but want MORE! Spending most of my time on Mastodon or Calckey. I made a bot to toot out all of Gertrude Stein’s Tender Buttons. (@TenderButtons only has 5 followers so I’m still hoping there are other weirdos like me who enjoy random, really random poetry in their feeds.) I started a Pixelfed account that I’m still becoming acclimated to. AND I have a specific writing project that I’m putting on WriteFreely. Still want to learn PeerTube.

stefan,
@stefan@stefanbohacek.online avatar

@RMiddleton @TenderButtons Nice!

It looks like a lot of the poetry bots haven't made it here from Twitter, what a shame!

Definitely feel free to submit yours: https://botwiki.org/submit-your-bot

BryceWray,

@stefan As of today, two — one on Mastodon and, now, one on CalcKey.

morri,

@stefan i have got a pixelfed acc plus a couple of mastodon instances.

ernest,

@stefan I use two accounts on the /kbin platform. One of them is on kbin.social, which was created a few days ago, and the other is on the Polish-language instance karab.in.

Additionally, I have two backup Mastodon accounts on Polish instances 101010.pl and pol.social in case my servers get sick. Occasionally, I write something on them.

ShekinahCanCook,

@stefan I have a personal account on Universeodon and an account for my arts & crafts on Handmade.social (though I might move that to a bigger arts instance).

snail,
@snail@crmbl.uk avatar

@stefan 7. But 5 are bots and one is the "admin" account I use to manage the server they all live on

I'm aiming they all count as active.

hacknorris,

@stefan 101010.pl , mstdn.social , my home server (now inactive but sometimes i throw misskey there. Hacknorris.thehomeserver.net or similar url) , pixey.org .
already been on mastodon.social and mastodon.technology :)

stefan,
@stefan@stefanbohacek.online avatar

@hacknorris Sounds like a very busy social (media) life!

74,
@74@101010.pl avatar

@stefan
6 accounts overall:

3 on Mastodon - 101010.pl (main), social.vivaldi.net (alt), pol.social (experimental)

1 on Mobilizon - mobilizon.pl
1 on /kbin - karab.in
1 on WriteFreely - writefreely.pl (created recently, new account since today)

jenna,

@stefan

I only use so far and the is brand new to me, but it’s so appealing! I love the decentralization, but my favourite part is my feed isn’t engineered.

stefan,
@stefan@stefanbohacek.online avatar

@jenna Really glad you're here and enjoying it!

jenna,

@stefan

Thanks! I have to update my answer. Thanks to @BryceWray and @atomicpoet I’m now also on

forever!

stefan,
@stefan@stefanbohacek.online avatar

For me, it would be this account, @botwiki, and quite a few bot accounts: https://stefans-creative-bots.glitch.me

All of these are on Mastodon.

gunchleoc,
@gunchleoc@mastodon.scot avatar

@stefan I'm on Mastodon, Pixelfed, Friendica and PeerTube.

I run a separate Mastodon server for Gaelic-language posts and am servicing a couple of bots.

Not using Friendica much at this time. I originally signed up to dogfood my translation and used it as a Twitter client for a while when my account over there was still active.

Regez,
@Regez@troet.cafe avatar

@gunchleoc
Als Mastodon-User kann ich mir beispielsweise längere Friendica-Beiträge nicht übersetzt anzeigen lassen (ja, ich schätze DeepL sehr und möchte nicht mehr darauf verzichten)...

As a Mastodon user, I can't get longer Friendica posts translated (yes, I really appreciate DeepL and don't want to do without it anymore)...
@stefan

stefan,
@stefan@stefanbohacek.online avatar

@Regez @gunchleoc A very nifty feature indeed!

morph,
@morph@morph.todon.de avatar

@stefan This (mastodon), WordPress (with AP Plugin), three RSS bots.
In theory Friendica (works with errors currently) and Nextcloud-social (doesn't work at all).
I'd really like to have the Friendica or a Hubzilla instance running for functions that mastodon lacks like forum/group like things.
