My days are spent as a consultant in enterprise IT organizations, mainly focusing on teamwork and the people side of delivery. In particular with coaching, processes and enabling teams to work better together across departments and vendors.

My passions are in the areas of #photography, #graphicdesign, #typography and #music. And, of course, family ❤️

On Swedish Mac keyboard layout, press shift + 0 to type "="
Just left of that is of course number 9, and shift + 9 is ")"

And in both and you happen to type ":=" all the time to express assignment. And I always fat finger press shift 9 instead of shift 0, meaning I end up with:

instead of

:=

Which while annoying, never fails to put a smile on my face.

The weird keyboard shortcuts and many conventions in applications only make sense on a US layout (possibly the UK one is very similar).

Good morning! I ended up falling asleep on the sofa even though dawn was breaking. Tom came down at 7am and found me sleeping in full daylight with the blinds open. I went up to bed and slept some more, I think I’d still be asleep now if I wasn’t going out. How did you sleep?

One day while picking my son up from day care, I noticed all the kids checking me out in a very particular manner. I asked him what they had done today, and apparently, they had been talking about what their parents did for work.

"I couldn't remember if you are with the FBI or the CIA, but the guys thought it was pretty cool" he said

While he had a few details wrong, it made for a good story at morning coffee with my IBM colleagues the next day.

Last night I learned he was also in Visage and THIN LIZZY.

I also learned that his name is a phonetically reversed pronunciation of his given name, “Jim.”

We're already struggling with our electricity infrastructure after shuttering our nuclear power plants and now they want Microsoft to consume even more even though every datacenter is, what, twenty jobs? Most of the few jobs created will probably be done from Dehli, Chennai or Hyderabad anyway. Data centre operations is a prime outsourcing candidate. Just needs a local skeleton crew to manage the hardware.

Last Tuesday, our new Shih Tzu was born. She will be joining us in about 8 weeks. Our first was adopted, but Shih Tzus are not so common. It is a breed that doesn’t trigger our allergies for dogs in general.

Observation on visual culture, sparked by re-reading Lem’s Solaris:
The novel is full of vivid and disturbing imagery relating to the ocean (which both films alas mostly sideline), yet there seems to be very little visual art online inspired by it, apart from the movie posters and book covers.

I’m arguing that most of what could be termed ”fan art” is heavily reliant on some pre-existing iconic imagery. This also directly feeds into AI art. No Solaris storyboard by H.R. Giger, no fan art.

Kinda makes me wonder at what point travelling by helicopter becomes the more eco-friendly choice. That's a LOT of motorized vehiciles to move very few people.

Not to talk about all those commoners stuck idling in traffic, waiting for the road to open up to the public again.

Question: is there a handy tool where I can take a screenshot, mark up the screenshot as to what is content and what is not, and be told what percentage of the image is content?

Affinity Designer has an "area tool" that could be used, I guess. Mark the screenshot up with shapes and check their sizes.

For percentages, you don't need to mess with scale either.
