@kathimmel@mstdn.social

hi. hello. :) i'm an illustrator in #scotland who draws good-hearted human beings, but i'm also obsessed with suprematism, proun, the cologne progressives, bauhaus, surrealism, abstract expressionism & 1920s/1930s (mostly #french) graphic design. to merge left-wing #politics with sustainability (i mostly work digitally) is my bag. would love to meet people with similar interests.

‘not everyone has the same colour, the same language, or the same customs, but they have the same heart, the same blood & the same need for love.’
: i couldn't decide which image i'd draw to celebrate the birth ( in 1906) of the glorious josephine, so here are two. if anyone merits multiple illustrative odes, it's la baker. why? [A THREAD]

simple digital ink sketch i drew of stylised digital iconic actor, dancer, singer, performer, civil rights activist & resistance fighter, josephine baker. here, she looks straight ahead, but not directly at her audience. josephine's hair is short & tousled. her lips are closed & slightly pursed. a striped scarf is draped elegantly over her shoulders & behind her is a diamond graphic. colours are cream & indigo blue.
stylised digital ink illustration i drew of iconic actor, dancer, singer, performer, civil rights activist & resistance fighter, josephine baker. here, she's dramatic in 3/4 profile. she looks towards the ground, her hair swept into an immaculate updo. large earrings dangle from her ears & a dramatic mid-emerald moon shape lights her from the back. colours are black, hot lavender, hot pink, fuchsia & mid-emerald.

: he was horror’s adonis with a wicked wit; a ‘muppet show’ favourite, a culinary whiz & an artist. alice cooper’s ‘welcome to my nightmare’ wouldn’t have achieved such iconic heights had it not included vincent price’s 'black widow' soliloquy. but his dramatic socio-political conclusion to the radio programme, ‘the saint’, which aired on 30 july, 1950,may come as a surprise to anyone who thought of him as merely a panto character.

digital ink illustration of horror legend, vincent price. in 3/4 profile, his right arm folded over his left, vincent casts a keen eye at something unseen by us. his eyebrow is raised in a rather bemused fashion. above him, the shadow of a bat floats, wings outstretched. colours are light cold blue & various shades of cold grey.

in honour of vincent’s birth in 1911, i’m leaving this part of the text:

‘ladies & gentlemen, poison doesn’t always come in bottles. & it isn’t always marked with the skull and crossbones of danger. poison can take the form of words & phrases & acts: the venom of racial & religious hatred. here in the United States, perhaps more than ever before, we must learn to recognise the poison of prejudice & to discover the antidote to its dangerous effects.’

vin, your words still ring true.

hey, if you're late to work because you woke up & sobbed for 15 minutes over a genocide that's happening halfway across the world from you, i don't think that's any of your fascist overlord's goddamned business.

: he gives serious hair envy. undisputed king of the quiff, he's deservedly one of france's most revered actors. jean gabin & his bloody barnet (probably) were born in 1904. he was, in his earlier years, a staple of film noir, starring in 'pepe le moko' (featuring ) & in jean renoir's phenomenal 'la grande illusion'. he went on to canoodle with simone signoret in 'le chat'. if you don't know who he is, fix that.

digital ink drawing of the inestimable french thespian, jean gabin, ubiquitous lung dart protruding elegantly from his unmistakable facehole. pensive - perhaps, perplexed - jean raises his eyebrows at a sight in the distance. there's a soft, golden cream-coloured moon behind him & he wears a striped winter scarf with his french blue duffle. background is french blue.

: o, the ignominy of admitting that i'm not extremely intimate with the oeuvre of my subject...
still, she sounds so rad that i had to make sketchy ode to adrienne rich (born in 1929). an essayist & poet who centred the oppression of women & lesbians in her work, adrienne was also a jewish pro-palestinian activist involved with the new agenda who supported the movement.

mixed media digital illustration i drew of poet, feminist & activist, adrienne rich. a young & smiling adrienne wields a fountain pen in her right hand, her cheek leaning against the same hand. her left arm is draped over the back of a basic chair. colours are peach, rust & royal indigo.

So you come into my replies on my instance and then block me.

This is what you think happens:

“Haha, everyone will see my reply and he can’t respond.”

Here’s what actually happens:

  • You piss me off
  • I suspend your account and delete your data from my server so it no longer distributes your reply
  • I post a screenshot of your reply so everyone can see the mental gymnastics you have to employ to defend Israel
  • You learn something new

Screenshot of post by verena elisabeth @verenalettmayer: @aral and i guess you think you are an anti-fascist. sorry,: excluding and bullying a person because of their affiliation to israel is not anti-fascist, but ... You know what. and for 1000 times: no governments participate in the , but independent broadcasters (that's why russia was also suspended, because NOT independent).
