I think defederating Threads is a huge missed opportunity for Mastodon to grow.
Imagine interacting with their users and letting them know that: you scroll posts without ads, your timeline is in chronological order, your client doesn’t spy on you, you only see what you want and no other content is pushed to your timeline, etc…
if I was a Threads users, I would move to Mastodon as soon as I find out 🙂
Thanks to extremists views, the Fediverse is setup to fail.
I can totally understand being suspicious about a big corp intention to join the fediverse, and you have all right to keep an eye on them and act. But deciding to block/defederate them upfront is just plain wrong 🤦🏻♂️
You are playing their game of “divide et impera”.
Why don’t you make your own Internet then? Your own email system etc..?
It seems to me a basic feature to be able to disable fuzzy translations.
Not only they are often inaccurate, many translators don't know anything about it (since it's a Django specific thing) and will think the translation is ok and the string will be ignored by compilemessage command 🙄
p.s: yes, I know about --use-fuzzy, I want the opposite
@paul hi, it looks like latest @ivory doesn’t respect the “No sound” user preference set in app. I had it off and I heard sound when a notification came up on iPad. I’ve now removed the sound permission from iOS settings but I think it’s a possible bug. Cheers
This is (not the only reason) what is holding me from subscribing to #Kagi
I'd like to pay for a service I use, not that the money I pay are used to fund a different product I don't use.
Probably I won't have choice (since #DuckDuckGo has freezes issues for me and I struggle to use it until the bug is fixed) but I won't be happy to do it.
@webology totally random question: do you keep your own copy (on GitHub, whatever...) of content you publish to micro.blog ? I was thinking about having one, to keep in parallel with my main blog, for shorter stuff, but I was thinking about how to maintain my own copy (yes, I'm aware we can export data, but still...), thanks
@ivory not sure if you accept these kind of requests, but if I had to vote for the next feature to be integrated in Ivory, I would say "Translate" button/link 🙏🏻
cc @paul
@ivory hi, I don’t quite understand this setting. I’ve already opted in for full text search in my Mastodon settings (from the web interface). Is this something else? If it’s the same, why isn’t it fetching my current preference from the server?
Strigoli with home made rocket salad pesto with almonds, nuts, parmigiano reggiano, olive oil and garlic. Served with dried tomatoes and additional nuts and almonds 🤤
personal opinion: Nintendo Switch joycons should just not be used with #SteamDeck 🙄
If you pair and use them, then you put SD to sleep, when you turn the SD on again only the Right joycon reconnects and it’s configured as single joycon (so LEFT means UP etc…).
To make them work you have to grab the SD, navigate menus, unpair them and re-pair them.
@pixelfed where can I find the download link for the iOS version of Pixelfed? The version I have will expire in 5 days and I can’t find the app anymore in the TestFlight, nor it’s available in the App Store. Thanks
I’m looking for a #backup solution for #MacOS which can make incremental and #encrypted backups. Nothing linked to a specific #cloud (but nice if it supports many, plus USB disks). Something similar to “Duplicati” (but stable). Already tried Kopia (UI too complicated and doesn’t support multiple tasks). Nice if open source but willing to pay for the best solution.
Any ideas? Boosts are very appreciated for better reach 🙏
ps: I already pay for pCloud, iCloud and Google Drive to use as storage
@mullvadnet@1password hello folks 👋 not sure whose fault is this but if I use Safari on iOS and try to fill Mullvad website password from 1Password, the password manager let me pick it but the text box isn’t auto filled. The only workaround is to open 1Password app, copy the password and paste it there (so the extension isn’t working or the website isn’t allowing the extension to work properly). Can you please try to reproduce it and maybe fix it? Thanks 🙏
I'm trying to figure out if this person has blatantly copied part of my blog post without any attribution or if all their posts are GPT generated and they don't even bother to read them before publishing.
