Today I finished day 100 of by @twostraws. It's the end.
And to be honest, I feel a bit too overwhelmed to know what to write. Of course I'm proud of myself, because I never thought I'd ever get this far. But I'm also very sad because there's no Paul who will talk to me every day anymore 😥
I started my journey about six months ago, with the Playground app from . I discovered Paul's 100 Days via and stuck with it to the end. 💡

baronetty,

💡 It really was a hell of a ride 😁 and so many times I wondered if I was or ever would be good enough. The only thing that kept me going was that I had come too far to fail and so I kept going.
During my journey I discovered this wonderful community. Now I'm part of @iosdevhappyhour and in my spare time I read articles about Swift and . I mean, it's just crazy 🤯 💡

Today I finished day 94 of by @twostraws.
It was challenge day. I really struggled with it at first, but once I got an idea of how it worked, I had a lot of fun. I mean, look at this view, I could scroll through it all day 😄

Yesterday and today I dived deeper into Initializers with the help of three videos by @StewartLynch
Stewart really takes his time and I think now I have a way better understanding.
After the deep dive into initializers I started another video by Stewart about closures. I didn’t finish it so I will continue that tomorrow. But what I really like about his approach with that is, that he explains closures in a different way to other sources I consulted so far. And that helps me. 💡

Today’s metrics, I’m officially now at the lowest point I’ve been in waist size and weight. 5 inches lost in 26 days on the waist. I think the changes to making quick meals being just going to Whole Foods and grabbing pre marinated chicken and air frying it with a bag of rice as a “lazy meal” instead of ordering is helping the bank and the gut. I only eat out at work now

baronetty,

@chiefgyk3d that’s awesome! Although I’m from Germany and don’t understand any of the numbers 😂
Keep rocking dude 🦾

Today I started the short video series about by @StewartLynch
I finished the first one and nearly the second one that I will finish tomorrow. Also tomorrow I wanne try to code a LineMark chart because I have an app idea and for that I wanna use a LineMark chart. So far all the tutorials I found were for BarMarks but as I learned so far work most of the charts pretty similar.

Today I worked my way through the third video of the second section about by @StewartLynch and it was all about many-to-many relationships. So we developed a genre class and every genre could have relationships to other books as books could have relationships to other genres. That work through took me so much time, because Stewart introduced a lot of code that I wanted to follow and so I had to stop every few seconds to write down the code. 💡

baronetty,

💡 But I really like the approach, although sometimes I have problems to follow all of Stewarts brilliant ideas.

Today I started to dig deeper into with the help of the video series by @StewartLynch
I worked my way through the first video. I learned new stuff, had problems with some parts, but I also understood a lot because I already know some stuff about SwiftData. That’s the part I like the most. The fact that not everything is new means that I can concentrate on things that are actually new, but that I haven't had time to deal with yet.

baronetty,

Today I worked through the second video about by @StewartLynch and I learned much about previews and how to use it! I liked that, because so far I know nearly nothing about previews and how to use it. In other apps I have programmed so far, I have always commented out the preview when it caused problems 😅
I also had some comprehension issues, as Stewart's approach is definitely more advanced.
I will continue tomorrow. But for now, I wish u a happy new year 🥂

Today I started to dig deeper into SwiftData with a blog article by @azamsharp
https://azamsharp.com/2023/07/04/the-ultimate-swift-data-guide.html

I’m not done with it, but it helped me to understand some more stuff, although it’s a bit outdated.
When I’m trough with that, I will do the SwiftData course by @twostraws

baronetty,

@troz thanks a lot! I will look into that 😊 I don’t know why, but I’m fascinated by SwiftData

Today I finished Day 60 of
It was a tough one, again. We had to code our own app. The goal was to decode and encode data from a server. The first one was a User array and the second one was a Friend array in the User array. After the de- and encoding the task was to show the User in a NavigationStack and the Friend in the User-Stack. 💡

baronetty,

💡 It took me some time but now I’m almost done. But boy, that cost nerves. I did a typical mistake for me: I was looking for two hours, because my NavigationLink wasn’t working. After two hours I recognized that I forgot the NavigationView 😂 anyway, I hope I find some time tomorrow to wrap the thing up.

Oh wow, @PleaseDontRain was nominated for a Golden Apple award by @AppleVis !!! 😱

A year ago I was telling @christianselig that he was nominated. At that point I had only been working on my app for about two weeks. I never even imagined I would be a nominee a year later.

I've spent so much time on my accessibility support and this means so much to me!

Voting is for blind or low vision users, please.

superstar @klemensstrasser is nominated again also.

baronetty,

@MuseumShuffle crazy! Congrats 😊🎉

Today I finished Day 38 of
It was the wrap up of the last project and a really fun one. The first part was pretty easy, because we did a similar one some projects ago. The second one was a bit tougher! But the nice thing about that was, that I had an idea how to solve it and it worked! I had to google some stuff to get all the pieces together but it worked. And that’s awesome! 💡

baronetty,

For the third part I have an idea how to solve it, but had no time to try jet. Nevertheless, I’m pretty proud of the outcome today.

baronetty,

@MuseumShuffle still have my iPhone 3GS one 😂

Today I finished Day 37 of
We programmed a simple App to store our expenses called iExpense. For the first time we used a second View.swift to store our information which was quite nice, because I imagined it to be more complicated.
I think I understood most of the stuff, but I have one question and maybe you could help me:

Why are we using a didset to encode and a init() to decode (as shown in the picture)?

baronetty, to random

Today I finished Day 29 of
It’s the start of a new project and @twostraws said it’s going to be the last easy one and I really don’t know what he means 😂 there where no easy projects, at all.
Anyway, we going to program another game, that is about guessing words. For that Paul introduced us to some Object-C code to deal with Strings out of data. 💡

baronetty, to swift

Today I finished Day 27 of it was a good one. But holy cow are dates complicated. We had to write so much code just because of the date and that it all fits for the user, it’s just crazy! But the App is really cool. I like the implementation of the machine learning and how good it works to calculate the perfect time to go to bed.
Tomorrow is the wrap up and I’m exited to see, what I have to do there.
