Something that I still can't get my head around on Mastodon... when I click on an account’s "Followers" or "Following" list, I can only see my own profile, maybe a few others if they are on the same instance. Is there any way around this? I feel that it's quite a barrier to finding interesting content 🤔

I'm using Ivory, but I assume it's the same on other clients?

It’s interesting how so much movies/television/video games/sports news revolves around numbers. It’s all ratings, viewers, sales… since when did any of this stuff matter to the consumer? Why is this stuff so heavily reported these days?

I mean, I don’t care how many viewers Fallout got nor do I care the price of the tv rights for the NFL. Was this type of stuff reported in the 90s and was I just too young to remember it?

@brandonwrites The one I find baffling is box office takings. It’s the prime piece of internet movie gossip nowadays - predictions, first weekend takes, all of that was just irrelevant ten years ago.

@robb A confession: I work for a software company that offers those sorts of customer surveys.

I am constantly asking clients to think about how asking for feedback at every touchpoint is detrimental but everyone wants everything measured nowadays and its a losing battle.

I had to go to hospital last month. A day later I received a text asking me if I’d recommend the hospital to friends and family. It’s a hospital! Go if you need medical assistance!

@andycarolan A confession: I ordered one the day they became available back in early January, so my opinion’s definitely skewed! I just see it as a toy rather than an all-singing do everything device and it seems to do that from what I’ve seen so far but we’ll see when it arrives
