mhzmodels,

@ephtracy Welcome to the Fediverse!

I'm looking forward to making some models using MagicaCSG soon. Can't thank you enough for the software you create.

Making voxel art with your editor has been a joy for many years. 🟦💙

Hi, Fediversians and friends.

Thanks to everyone who has written in the last week or so. I promise to respond to you all when I am feeling well enough. Will respond to the new follow requests as well. Thanks a ton for your patience and support! It's nice to see you all chiming in when things get rough.
❤️🧡💛

First, let's make one thing clear:

🦀 I never said I was leaving.

The last announcement was to express my desire to no longer post my art directly to the Fediverse, in addition to expressing some frustrations. Art was to be uploaded to Ko-fi only. However, things will probably be returning to normal in light of recent events.

2 iconic machines are scheduled to be modeled next! Count on seeing them soon.

There seems to be some injustice within the Fediverse in terms of moderation. Everyone wants to be the one making the rules, hence all the different servers. Not many of these servers seem willing to decide on basic things, such as what constitutes online harassment.

On a related note, 2 Merveilles.town moderators have decided to reach out to me the other day. Better late than never. I will give them props for admitting that they did not handle the situation properly. They have also apologized, which is appreciated. Why this situation was ignored and allowed to escalate remains a mystery. 🔎

Nune has been unblocked to give them a chance to speak to me directly. They will be greeted with warmth and respect if they choose to reach out. Maybe we can put all this behind us.

Their voxel art is wonderful, and I only want good things for them.
💚💙💜

mhzmodels,

@smallsco Thanks, it's been rough. Hopefully I don't hear any more false slander from their users and they become too busy with their "boat life" to bother me or anyone else on the Fediverse again.

Looking forward to focusing in on my art without any more drama.

On the flip side, thanks a bunch for sticking with me even though the dishes run spicy here sometimes. Being a part of Macstodon has been nothing but fun, and I will always be grateful to be a part of it.

mhzmodels,

@metalsnake Let's just say it's gotten quiet. Hopefully it stays that way. 😆

@Anrky This person waited to vaguely identify themselves as the artist in the Instagram post but only after they wanted my public thoughts on their supposed work.

The whole conversation seemed a little off from the start.

I barely slept so I’m making a cup of pourover coffee to get me through the rest of the morning, except I literally just stood around for ten minutes waiting for my kettle to heat up despite forgetting to actually turn it on first 🫠

    mhzmodels,

@lauren I love pourover coffee! You can make it nice and strong if you want.

A few weeks ago I forgot to add the mug underneath the Keurig machine. By the time I realized my fuck up it made most of the cup. 🙃

    mhzmodels,

@lauren Oh dang! 😆 Hopefully you had some more to make after that.

Luckily the machine has a catcher on the bottom so it didn't make a mess. Like you I'm a bit sensitive to caffeine and get jittery, but I love the taste of really strong coffee.

I'm truly disgusted by what I've seen in my timeline the last few days. I wanted to remain quiet, until I saw more of it freshly posted this morning.

The Mastodon.art admin is no one to be defending.
It's becoming more clear in time that they lack the decency or maturity to lead a community of artists.

Stux dropped the ball (he regretted that and did his best to fix it) and Meta needs to go the fuck away. That doesn't mean that you should be defending an admin who needlessly causes problems. Stux concerns regarding their behavior seem quite real.

Look who is in the comments having a good time. 🤮
This is harassment, plain and simple. It's also concerning to see just how popular this post was. Shame on you if you took part in this type of ugly human behavior. How would you feel if this post was written about you?

    12, “Bookworm” released today: https://www.debian.org/News/2023/20230610

The version is here - will have to try updating the IIfx soon (maybe tomorrow?) and see if the bugs I ran into the last time around have been fixed: https://cdimage.debian.org/cdimage/ports/snapshots/2023-06-10/

(In case you missed it, my previous attempt: https://oldbytes.space/@smallsco/109649255454850663 https://oldbytes.space/@smallsco/109713064128414207 https://oldbytes.space/@smallsco/109741425855178548 )

    mhzmodels,

@smallsco Ah, bummer. What are the chances another snapshot will be released for you to try again?

    mhzmodels,

@smallsco Ah, the waiting game. 😀

Been fighting my own battle with the latest Debian, too.

I got Bookworm booting on my G5, but I've been trying to get both of my displays to work properly. Probably something to do with the fact that one of them uses a Belkin ADC to DVI adapter.

Going to see what happens with the latest MorphOS and OpenBSD, too.

    mhzmodels,

@smallsco They work when they are used one at a time in Linux and everything works perfectly under OS X.😵‍💫

If all else fails, I'll give the previous version a go, then.

This post is in regards to an experience that I haven't opened up about yet. This happened during my early days on the Fediverse. Someone had asked me to do a commission and I accepted (vector design).

The work was finished, and I was paid. It took much longer than expected due to my clients demands after every upload (an artist wants to get it just right for you), but it was finished and I was paid.

Then I receive an email about 1 month later. They demanded that I release that work under a creative commons license. They were acting as if I had put them in a really bad spot. They also began asking me for the original source file to my work.

Looking back at our original correspondence, this individual had no right demanding any of these things.

While the special licensing was something they requested in the beginning, I made it clear to them that I didn't understand the ins and outs of licensing, and felt most comfortable retaining the artists right to their own work.

Licensing work outright like that is often ill advised, according to my research. Unless some $$$ is involved, DON'T.

They were paying for me to create the graphics for use in a specific project, and I feel like I did my best to make that clear. I need to learn more about licensing / commissions so that I know how to better handle those situations.

Research will have to be done on my part, and when I'm ready I'll open up commissions again. My expectations aren't high, but paying a small bill here and there would brighten my world.

    mhzmodels,

@exchgr There will be plenty of that! 😆 I'm dangerously out of shape right now, so this will be interesting.

You bike in the city much? I used to own an electric about a decade ago. Used it to get around EVERYWHERE. I miss that thing.

    mhzmodels,

    @chrisparana @mhzmodels Thanks!

One of these days (in the near future) I plan to do a focus on Apple hardware, so stay tuned. 📺

    mhzmodels,

@chrisparana @mhzmodels I agree. The IIc wins in the looks department, for sure.

My mom had a IIe that I used sometimes when I was just a toddler. This was back in 1985. I was obsessed with playing Alf with the joystick.

Never even knew any of the other Apple II computers existed until about 1996, when I saw some in our schools computer lab. They felt very outdated compared to our Performa at home, or even the Mac LC III machines at school. Of course we all wanted to use the "newest" computers.

Really regret not exploring them more back in the day.
