The best thing we could do to improve technology: replace almost everything that uses touch sensitive panels with actual switches.

Light switch on a bedside lamp? Actual switch not a touch sensor.

Play/pause on Bluetooth headphones? Actual switch not touch gestures.

You know you’ve pressed it because you can see, feel and hear it. You don’t need to learn a bunch of gestures.

Physical switches: good, actually.

Also a slide out Blackberry style keyboard for iPhone already.

Today I decided to work from a coffee shop instead of the office. Very hipster vibes in here right now. Plus, there's two girls in here and one is teaching the other how to knit and I kinda hope they are on a date because its going well (the flirting, not the knitting).

@matt hah, randomly flashing back to my uni days, where I went to Fab Cafe in Manchester one late afternoon (not sure if you're familiar with it...random sci-fi retro themed bar), actually got chatting with a cute alternative-looking girl ... and after an hour or so she invites me to come along to a bar in Canal St. to meet up with her girlfriend. did have a fun evening, regardless (despite the constant "this is Patrick...and he's STRAIGHT" introduction i was given)

But, Eric, why are you frustrated with what @w3c @wai’s WCAG WG does?

Maybe it is that they don’t even care to fix typos in their standard that people look at hundreds of times a day? Oh, look at the errata! I don’t look at the errata when I copy and paste texts from an effing world wide standard. Not for typos.

This is embarrassing on so many levels and makes the whole industry look careless. Thanks, I guess.

@gnomicutterance I always advise folks that if they can use something more general than "click" or language like "view", in a very natural way, sure go for it. but don't go out of your way to reinvent language and end up with very stilted constructs...

I’m interested to try BlueSky as I see a lot of folk saying they get on with it much better than Mastodon in terms of UX… but then I also see reports that it doesn’t even have a block button yet, and lacks strict moderation over hate groups. So I gotta wonder if all these early adopters aren’t mostly just privileged folks, and it’s just another Twitter long term 🤷‍♂️
