The only feeling I have about starship is dread.

They want to use that to launch batches of HUNDREDS of Starlinks at once. And guess where all those Starlinks will end up? The pieces that don't make it to the ground will end up in our upper atmosphere, screwing up the stratosphere, the ozone layer, who knows what else because SpaceX isn't required to do any environmental assessments of this.

This dapper fella was eating foliage hors d’ouvres and then even stepped into the light for me to get better shots! (Too bad I only had my phone with me…)

You can see the more coppery orange summer coat here, but still with the darker forehead. His lighter chest is less prominent than in the winter coat.

As makes eye contact with the camera as both ears are turned toward the viewer. The velvet-covered antlers have at least 3 points on each, one point and two branching nubs. Ae stands next to a descending tree branch where’s the bottom folliage has disappeared. Conveniently it seems about the foliage around aer chest height.
Having finished with the descending branches, ae steps forward into the evening golden hour. Aer coat’s coppery brown color is very visible and the antlers and ears catch the light as well. Ae makes direct eye contact with the camera with a slightly off center head, maybe school portrait like
Ae is bored with me and my camera phone and turns into the golden hour. Sunlight catches aer nose, eyelid, ears, and body in a sculptural way. The golden brown and honey like colors juxtapose from green shrubs and branches nearby.

I tested the advice that marking classes in #swift as final improves build times. I generated 2 swift files that each have 1000 (trivial) classes: one with each marked as final, the other without. I built each file 10 times, recording the build time for that file.

Marking classes as final does improve build times. By about 7%. The difference is just outside 1 standard deviation, so I think it’s statistically significant. But I’m not a trained statistician.

I used Xcode 15.2/swift 5.9 for this.

Couple of iPhone shots, taken at Crab Cove in Alameda yesterday. These are California Ground Squirrels, and they live in the rocks at the edge of the beach there. Not quite tame, but very used to people so they let you get reasonably close (close enough to get clear photos with the iPhone 15 Pro 3x camera).

These were taken using portrait mode, providing artificial depth of field.
