rainbow capitalism is for sure fraught and complicated (trans tuesday on it coming in a few weeks), but also now I have pride flag slap bracelets and scrunchies which is great, because two things can be true at once

I'm an animation writer, author, comic writer, and podcast writer/producer, and I'll be out on the picket lines, even though I'm not a member yet. Here's why: 🧵

  1. Writer pay and opportunity for advancement has fallen dramatically. Writers (and all workers) deserve better.

  2. Being in the WGA has been a lifelong goal of mine.

  3. Even if it weren't my own goal, it's the ethical thing to do.

  1. @susanlbridges and I write as a team, we have a kid. Despite our experience we'll start at staff writer. Presently we'd get ONE staff writer salary between us and no script fees, and might not work again for a year. 3 PEOPLE IN LA CANNOT SURVIVE ON THAT PAY.

  2. And you may not realize it, but due to systemic biases affecting who can live on so little, the majority of people who can survive on that pay will be overwhelmingly:

RICH
NON-DISABLED
CISGENDER
HETEROSEXUAL
WHITE
MEN
