Fairly lukewarm take: I hate phrases like “identify as”, “preferred pronouns”, and shit like “living your truth”. It comes off as super condescending and patronizing. You would never be like, “Jane got married last week. She identifies as Mrs. Surname now, she’s so brave for living her truth”

@danirabbit I’ve never heard “living your truth.” That one sounds completely idiotic. But yeah, I can agree that “identifies as” and “preferred pronouns” is somewhat idiotic, “identifies as” more so than “preferred pronouns.”

You don’t have to “identify as” male, female, nonbinary, etc. You just are.

Granted I’m cis, but I do feel “preferred pronouns” can be cut a bit more slack. But when in doubt, just use “they,” “them,” and “their.” So much easier

@GottaLaff so at what point can we officially consider them a terrorist group? Personally, it’s been long since time… at least since January 6th, 2021… but at what point can they be officially designated as an extremist, terrorist, cultist threat against the United States? And I’m only being slightly facetious when I ask that. If they weren’t “the opposing party,” would we have officially designated them as a terrorist group at this point?

@GottaLaff NFL, PSA. Encrypted doesn’t mean 100% protection. It still has to be decrypted to be read (in end-to-end encryption, this usually means on the end-participants sides). So, on their devices, the contents of the message can still be read as plaintext (or, in this case, screenshotted). Encryption does provide a lot of protection, especially from Man-In-The-Middle-type attacks (including the provider, Signal in this case), but there’s still the other party as a “vulnerability.”

I don't understand CWing political posts. And that doesn't mean you need to @ me explaining why. I know THEIR reasons, I just disagree with them and won't do it.

I respect CWs for other things, but not politics. Politics is news and people need to be aware of what's happening. It's not gory or violent, it's politics.

@GottaLaff I can understand why some people don’t want to see political stuff (can be very exhausting, especially with how polarizing things are nowadays). But politics drives everything. Ignoring it is how you get presidents like Trump and lose your otherwise taken-for-granted democratic republic. And your (and everyone else’s) entire world. Everything rides on politics, so you have to pay attention to it, lest you lose everything. You’ve got to vote, and you’ve got to make informed votes.
