In a recent post I shared Retro Dodos video stating google's unfair behaviour.

I did a little search with interesting 🧐 findings.

This could help users looking for independent, private search results.

🟢Mojeek: Has its own web crawler; results were unique & they claim they don't track.

🔶MetaGer: Aggregate from others; have anonymizing proxy.

🛑Swisscows: Anonymous search engine, with unique results again.

Installing Node.js on #Ubuntu (22.04.4): It looks like a package manager is best the option.

  • apt only has a very old version. I’d love to be able to use it, but apparently that’s not an option.
  • Node’s website suggests: nvm, fnm, Brew, Docker.

I know Brew, but I don’t need yet another package manager on my Ubuntu. So, nvm?

I did a lightning talk yesterday at and honestly it was pulled together last minute from some random ideas I had - but I've had a couple of people now say they liked it - the photographer at the event said it made things a little more understandable - maybe I'm on to something 🤔

I love tortoises. Even when they eat all the veggies in the garden. The little scamps, they can get away with anything with those cute faces.

I miss my tortoises. We left them behind in Afghanistan when I was six. :(

Ideas:
– Standard library API—e.g.: What does Array.prototype.splice() do?
– Functionality: How to destructively add a value at the end of an Array?

For example:

  • How to do map and filter together.
  • How to loop over an object vs array.
  • best way to flaten list of nested objects without utility packages etc.

Furthering my experiments with and modeling, here's a beach scene with baked lighting and some ambience.

A 3D rendered beach scene on a small diorama cube. Half the scene is blue ocean, with underwater rocks and plants. On the shore there is a red towel and red-and-white beach umbrella. A small blue bucket is in the sand. Many small white sea shells scatter the beach as the waves gently move against the shore.
