I don't know as much about vertebrates as I do about bugs but I do know a fruit bat when I see one.

"While spacewalking I realized something, I used to think I was scared of heights but now I know I was just scared of gravity"

― NASA astronaut Reid Wiseman

An astronaut in a white spacesuit with red markings conducts a spacewalk outside the International Space Station, with the Earth’s curvature, blue oceans, reddish-brown desert terrain, and thick white clouds visible in the background.

This needs to be broken down by which Agile. Was it the waterfall process with no requirements gathering, the scrum and methodology instead of code method, or the actually putting something that runs in front of stakeholders and iterating?

The "Recall can't record DRMed video content" thing is because DRMed video content is entirely invisible to the OS. The OS passes the encrypted content to your GPU and tells it where to draw it, and the GPU decrypts it and displays it there. It's not a policy decision on the Recall side, it's just how computers work.

Some of y'all are still confused as to why it seems that Silicon Valley billionaires are "turning to Trump." That's because you don't listen to Black people, you disrespect poor white people, and you ignore obvious statistics that have been staring you in the face for decades.

Silicon. Valley. Billionaires. Have. Always. Supported. Trump.

Not because they like the tax breaks. Because they are more likely to be racist, and racism is the greatest predictor of Trump support.

"Paris has closed more than 100 streets to motor vehicles, tripled parking fees for SUVs, removed roughly 50,000 parking spots, and constructed more than 1,300 kilometers of bike lanes since Mayor Anne Hidalgo took office in 2014. Those changes have contributed to a 40% decline in air pollution..."

The other day at work, in an online meeting, a fuckhead said the phrase “Well, it’s probably because she’s a woman and she doesn’t know what the hell she’s talking about”, referring to an external contractor.

I’m not out, but I stopped the meeting and said “You don’t get to talk like that in front of me. Now, I have to call HR.”

There was laughter. To which I replied sternly, “It is not funny. Do better.”

There was no laughter then.

I don’t put up with that shit. Misogyny, any kind of trans- or queer- based phobia, racism. None. That’s how you ally - you speak up. You challenge the notion that these fuckers are in a safe place. You DO have power to create change. Be the voice for the voiceless.

Afterwards, two of the other attendees reached out to me to thank for my courage to stand up to one of the “cool kids”. I don’t need thanks, I need people to be better.

BE BETTER.

I real LOVE the fact Mastodon and most of the Fediverse software avoids this all together

if you can't be in a coalition with people you disagree with on at least a few things, you can't build a coalition big enough to accomplish anything in the United States or defeat rising fascism.

It’s just not going to work.

Gradient Descent Visualization 👇🏼

I was looking for examples of interactive data visualization for a gradient descent algorithm, and I found this app by Lili Jiang. This desktop app is based on C++ and enables simulation and visualization of different gradient descent algorithms, such as momentum, AdaGrad, RMSProp, and Adam. The app enables to compare different methods simultaneously.
