I have always believed that one of the big reasons that the Premier League has caught on in the States is because it made it socially acceptable to drink before breakfast.
@philheppenstall I completely agree. In fact I’m of the opinion that clubs who win promotion should be offered the choice of banking £100m and refusing promotion but that would just turn it into another Premier League anyway.

@hallenbeck@mike@30yrdscreamer Son is an incredible finisher, over a variety of distances too. xG can argue luck in small datasets, like an individual game, but when a player is consistently overperforming or underperforming xG, it illustrates overall quality.
A frustrating aspect of Liverpool’s season is they don’t allow much xG, perhaps have the best keeper in the world, and still manage to concede to teams that generate very few chances.
Match officials should adopt an “only captains or yellows” policy to cut down on all the nonsensical protestations after every decision. #MastodonFC#premierleague
@danielholt agreed. Players will adapt, particularly as an early warning is given to captains to remind their players of the impending disciplinary actions. It’s for the good of the sport.

@philheppenstall yep. I feel like the way they did the check today was exactly how they should have done the Liverpool check. Yes it was delayed, but worth reviewing, and the late var check didn’t really interrupt the match.
