@massivelyop A few points. 1) Liking anything made by Riot, a terrible company. Yes, they're bad. Blizz is bad. There is no good company. I've given up on expecting ANY company to be decent. 2) I don't care about an MMO from Riot. I care about a competitor to WoW. It's either gonna be better than WoW or the competition will make WoW better. Win-win for me.

My introduction to the World of Warcraft - Azeroth - was through friends playing the WarCraft III RTS. And to be honest, I didn't care about the story at all, I was just playing custom tower defense and DOTA maps with pals on battle.net.

I ended up playing WoW as an MMO because it was the next iteration of the game, and being my first MMO had a profound impact on me as a gamer. I played Horde, enjoyed the wide open feel of the barrens, made friends, and it was great fun.

My experience getting to know the world of League of Legends (Runeterra) has been different. It started like WoW, playing little custom game modes with friends (I am a dedicated ARAM player). Over time I paid attention to the 'tips' and the art and the stories and animation, and the interactive maps and I've watched them grow their backstory while providing me with a lot of high-quality simple to learn/hard to master PvP. Then of course I watched the Arcane series and realized they were serious about world building.

It's far easier to create base mmo content than it is to maintain competitive balance while growing that content. Rito has a good track record in this area and I have no doubt that whatever they introduce as the game goes on will end up being balanced and designed for growth and expansion. As for Blizzard, Warcraft has only ever used the "forget about all that really important old stuff, lets move on to something new" method, trivializing their entire game's content with every expansion.

Knowing how Rito approaches content patches makes me optimistic that my time will be worth investing in the world they create.

Are they a good company? I don't know. That's not really my responsibility tbh, I'm a consumer. When I go to Walmart I don't check to see if the guys who picked my carrots go home and beat their kids. I sure hope not :( but enforcing laws and influencing behavior is someone else's job.

Game studios: we support LGBTQ+!

Same game studios: we have partnerships with the Saudi Arabian state government via this fund.

Latest one to sell out: Riot Games

But I am sure all those pride colours and flags in your game will make people think differently.

Why is there so little outcry about #RiotGames recent decision to mandate their intrusive rootkit "Kernel level anti-cheat" (which does not stop cheaters in Valorant) to be installed in order to play #LeagueOfLegends ?
It is always running. It is an attack vector for malicious actors' #malware . It is a #privacy nightmare. And people are fine with it.. what a dystopia.
