Trying to hit all the Danish classics, today I went to the baker several hours before morning opening time and bought some grovbirkes straight from the oven.

asmodai,
@asmodai@mastodon.social avatar

@pervognsen Sounds similar to the loss of boulangeries in France.

In the Netherlands we have a bit of a revival with some more traditional bakers rising up again.

Cool, my upstream Zabbix Ansible PR got merged, making Zabbix script maintenance a little less cumbersome in the future.

New development policy: code generated by a large language model or similar technology (e.g. ChatGPT, GitHub Copilot) is presumed to be tainted (i.e. of unclear copyright, not fitting NetBSD's licensing goals) and cannot be committed to NetBSD.

@daniel_collin True, but at least having a policy is something that can be fallen back on in dubious cases?

Huh, looks like Assassin's Creed Shadows seems to contain Yasuke, the African retainer to Oda Nobunaga.

So that's the latter part of the Sengoku period (1580 onwards).

Had a very weird first 24 hours back in Europe until I realized (after noticing this for two different kinds of bottles with screw-off plastic caps) that the plastic caps don't detach anymore from the collar. That's new since last year. EU regulation apparently?

asmodai,
@asmodai@mastodon.social avatar

@pervognsen Yep! Reducing plastic litter. Also, many countries now having or introducing deposits for small plastic bottles and/or aluminium cans.

In other news, Tetrapaks that moved from just folding to open to plastic caps seem to move back again in at least my country, but possibly others as well?

I don't get Microsoft. They piss away more money on things that ultimately never see the light of day, but sure, let's close down a succesful studio.

@pervognsen @Sharlock93 Hi-Fi Rush seemed like the typical game for the platformer and speedrunner crowd. I am sure that that could've been a promotional angle as well.

asmodai,
@asmodai@mastodon.social avatar

@pervognsen @Sharlock93 Ah, I had only seen a few trailers, and it seemed more like a Metroidvania-like platformer over a DmC. But still, solid crowd for that kind of game to play and speedrun. :D

Fucking hilarious:

"Russia warned Britain on Monday that if British weapons were used by Ukraine to strike Russian territory then Moscow could hit back at British military installations and equipment both inside Ukraine and elsewhere."

They pull all kinds of dirty moves themselves and cry foul when the UK effectively tells Ukraine it's okay to punch the bully a bloody nose, back on its own turf.

Fuck you, Putin.

Really stop using MD5 already for passwords.

asmodai,
@asmodai@mastodon.social avatar

@pervognsen I had something like that and fully relied on muscle memory. Apparently one day it failed. Thankfully I had a laptop where I still had a logged in session. Needed to export every entry by hand, nuke the vault, and reimport. So yeah, that sucked. And lessons were learned.

"Todd Howard reckons he knows why Starfield was so divisive: It was too 'different than you've seen from us in past'"

No, Todd, it's because you've stripped yet more from what made these games great and all the systems have barely evolved in all these years. It pales to your previous games in many respects.

I seriously don't get why some people like TOML, but dislike YAML. TOML is such a worse format, and it's especially syntatically noisy.

TIL about the Poison Book Project

It doesn't surprise me though. Emerald green, also known as Schweinfurter, Paris, or Vienna green, is highly toxic due to its chemical makeup:

Cu(Cโ‚‚Hโ‚ƒOโ‚‚)โ‚‚ยท3Cu(AsOโ‚‚)โ‚‚ - copper (II) acetate triarsenite

Invented in 1814, they even used this pigment to dye candy wrappers in those days.

asmodai,

@peturdainn Haha, fair. Aside from the time period difference, the poison used in Eco's story is most likely a plant-based poison.

The surprising mental impact of seeing your own face on [video conferencing] calls

Viewing oneโ€™s own face during video conferencing calls leads to mental fatigue, according to a study of brain activity, which found equal outcomes among men and women.

    In a new study published in the journal Humanities and Social Sciences Communications, researchers investigated sexualized content on Twitch.tv [..]. Their analysis of approximately 2,000 livestreams reveals a concerning trend: women are more frequently and intensely self-sexualizing than men, hinting at a broader pattern of โ€˜pornificationโ€™ in digital content to lure audiences.
