Jesus_666, to avatar in When you think about it, they were lucky it worked. Calling yourself Wang Fire and Starfire Fire is the equivalent of a water tribe guy called Mr Iceberg or Earth kingdom guy name Rocky Mountain.

I mean, there’s lots of French people called François (which comes from the same base as France), a German musician called Drafi Deutscher, so many people of various levels of renown with English as their surname that the Wikipedia page links to several disambiguation pages… I mean, there’s people with “Human” as their surname.

Surnames can be remarkably blunt.

(Also, Sapphire Fire. It would’ve been hilarious if Katara started taking like Starfire, though. “This is my husband, the Fire of the Wang.”)

Don’t you go bad mouthing Rocky. The Mountain clan has done lots of good for this community!

“Them’s fighting words. Gan-jins did the most good for Earth Kingdom.” - Some Gan-jin clan idiot.

I agree. However playing devils advocate they were “from the colonies.” It could explained they changed their names to fit in better but picked bad ones. From the perspective of the headmaster this could be an adequate explanation.

nieceandtows,

Yeah even the class teacher doesn’t blink an eye when Aang doesn’t know basic things about Fire nation, because ‘he is from the colonies’

ben_dover, to nostalgia in The year is 2001, what CD are you playing on your Walkman?

I’d rip them to tape and use my real walkman because anti-shock sucks

roguetrick,

For real though. Getting a portable CD player was such a disappointment. We just went back to tape even once MP3 players became popular. Mixtapes with custom cover art.

corsicanguppy, to nostalgia in Corner desks. They were just everywhere mostly, probably because monitors where so big and heavy

probably because monitors where so big

Nah. Legroom.

Legroom is key for some of us, and the shallow side runs have nothing underneath for space.

Aermis,

I miss my corner desk so much. It’s not just leg room, it’s left and right storage. Take up a bulky corner. Looks better in a room. I’m surprised at the lack of corner computer desks in modern furniture.

Raiderkev,

This. I was actually looking for one recently, and the selection was terrible.

Aermis,

Yeah the selection was all antique for me. Sucks. I was determined to build my own. But then chose against it and succumbed to the norm

xia, to nostalgia in Phones with actual keyboards

Lol… i just got my new fx-tec pro 1x with a physical keyboard… too bad about the usb-c video-out, though…

My bad, I thought they had said they didnt think it was going to do so well so another batch was getting spun up. I guess that might be not happening.

brisk,

I wish it was, I need a new phone and this one was top of my list.

Well y275.8k will certainly be interesting

danc4498,

They’ll work on a solution in the year 275,759

lars,

They’ll work on a solution in the year 275,759

…written in ES5, Python 2 and mostly Rust++

Quoth_The_Revan,

It’s fun how oddly close that year is with 0°C in Kelvin: 273.15. Seeing 275.8K just instantly brought me back to chemistry…

Crudely spliced video with timestamps showing approximately how long it takes each Prism and Scaffold to break the Teralyst’s shields twice because an Amp Arcane Adapter is one of the drops this week.
Table of amp components For anyone new to amps, the first number refers to the Prism, second number is the Scaffold, and the third number is the Brace.

The video is mostly for showing the fire modes of each amp component for anyone that might be considering building a new one, and to roughly show how much damage newer players can expect from them. I’ll probably make a second video showing how each prism/scaffold performs with a more maxed out setup for anyone that may find it useful. (still only against the Teralyst so might not be the most useful video)

Hotdogman, to warframe in Yesterday I won Warframe, now I can finally pull this trigger

And now, time to lose your sanity leveling Kuva and Tenet weapons. Welcome to the Church of Forma! Congrats.

Frisbeedude,

Been there, done that. The Tenet Spirex was my last piece.

A lemmy instance full of trolls and right wingers has been defederated by most major instances. This has the effect of closing them off from everyone else. They hate this because it kills their engagement. Nice profile pic btw 😄

I still don’t know why we got rid of these. They were space-efficient and made a computer room look great.

BoxOfFeet, to nostalgia in Battle of the 90's copycat movies. Deep Impact vs Armageddon. Which one did you enjoy more?

As a kid, Armageddon. It had action, comedy, and Steve Buscemi.

As an adult, definitely more of a Deep Impact fan.

BoxOfFeet, to nostalgia in The year is 2001, what CD are you playing on your Walkman?

In 2001, I still only had CDs my parents bought for me. So, it was probably Jethro Tull’s Greatest Hits, or Bob Seger Live Bullet.

And it wasn’t a Walkman, it was a Panasonic that I still use.
