Listened to an episode of Ludonarrative Dissidents that helped me understand the point of #pbta rules being divided into "moves", little routines that you invoke like a #DnD spell. It's training wheels for insecure GMs. Apparently really effective wheels. I have been a messianic megalomaniac GM since I was twelve. I am not the target audience of these rules.
@mrundkvist I have the relatively common gamer complaint of wishing I could get my group of friends here at home to branch out and try some different systems. It’s pretty much just reflexively D&D for them, and I’ve been bored with both the system and the setting for such a long time now. I can’t even get them to try Worlds Without Numbers instead, as they claim it’s “too much work” to learn new rules.
I have trouble finding sleep tonight but thanks to that, I just noticed Rosewood Abbey made it to the second spot among Popular #PbtA titles on Itchio. 😊
I don't really agree with the perception that Powered by the Apocalypse-type games are particularly good at genre emulation. I don't even necessarily think Apocalypse World is a particularly focused example of the post-apocalyptic genre, and to the extent that Dungeon World is more faithful to its genre, that strikes me as a liability rather than as a strength. The #PbtA games I like best tend to be idiosyncratic, if not downright bespoke.
Had another wonderful #Masks session last night. I've been setting up a murder mystery for the players to solve. It took months to get all the pieces into place.
They ran down the clues and are sure they've figured out who the murderer is. Next session will likely be confronting the suspect. Just need to decide in the moment if it needs a climactic battle, a heartfelt confession. or some combination of the two.
I had developed the plot, worked on making the suspect cast likeable and develop them as characters, drop clues, and make the whole thing feel logical.
I really like these #PBTA#PoweredByTheApocalypse games. They really push the mechanics out of the way and let me focus on telling the best narrative I can. This game has really helped me push my storycraft.
I'll be taking a brief sabbatical as a player, as one of the other players is kind enough to give me a little break. I've been running this for at least a year now and I have a second big campaign that's all me.

Pasión de las Pasiones ! Des épisodes merveilleux qui laissent entrevoir le potentiel incroyable de ce jdr.
Toutes les personnes autour de cette tables étaient fantastiques, ce qui jouait probablement sur le fait que les épisodes soient si intenses. :)

Je découvre le système #PbtA (mais en ayant entendu parler je m'attendais à mieux... on m'a vendu du rêve)
Je découvre que c'est tout public et c'est vraiment cool.
Question pour ceux qui ont déjà testés : en lisant les règles j'ai fait quelques lancés de dés. J'ai l'impression qu'après chaque scène, les PJ se retrouvent trop vite au bord de l'épuisement et qu'on peut pas trop enchaîner les péripéties. Vous confirmez ?
@graffin Je n'ai malheureusement pas testé le jeu, je n'ai que survolé les règles, donc je vais avoir du mal à répondre à ta question. Mais clairement ça ne me semble pas nécessairement être le pbta le plus didactique ni le plus orthodoxe.
C'est quand même un "système" qui change beaucoup d'un jeu à l'autre. Ce serait tout de même intéressant d'en lire d'autres pour affiner ton opinion.

One of the things I love about the #NSR scene that is really starting to develop is the combination of the fun stuff about the #OSR with the innovations that have been made in other parts of the RPG world (#PBTA, other story games, etc.). There are some really good innovations that have happened outside of the OSR, and I think games that bring in a wide range of ideas are often better for it. Not a controversial belief I don’t think, but just wanted to say I’m excited about it
@thopan this post was mostly inspired by talk I see in the NSR discord about people working on new games, so I didn’t have any published games in mind unfortunately. I know there are some kicking around though, and hope someone else might be able to chime in with an answer! I’ll see if I can find some better examples when I get off of work

María essaie de gravir les échelons en travaillant étroitement avec Lorenzo, el Caballero et jumeau d'Alonzo, qui gère l'hôtel provisoirement.
Monster of the Week, Week 3: My players freed an unfortunely trapped cryptid.
In the process, they have intentionally murdered three people they've encountered who were doing something horrible, but didn't deserve being shot or being boiled in a maple syrup vat.
To save their own skin they now have endangered their coworkers and engaged in a conspiracy. They kidnapped the local mob boss' fail son who was a witness.
@deidungeon Yes, it is a horror game, and it's playing out like a Coen Brothers movie with Vampires.
They keep making logical choices considering the situation I put them in, but haven't faced rolls where I was able to escalate the Doom Track sufficiently yet.
I'll need to put them in a really bad spot next week so I can get higher stakes. They are making enemies everywhere, but having a lot of fun.
Monster of the Week tip: You can't script out a game of #pbta in advance, but you can keep consequences for their choices prepared.
As a warm up to the session, write a list to stack tension as they fail rolls. Not everything has to derive from the choices immediately proceeding the failed roll either. Bring back things from previous sessions. Notetaking really helps keep these consequences at hand for later.
Clap de fin pour la campagne The Sprawl dans Paris, de Cape et de Chrome
Cette campagne m'a permis de prendre le pli du PbtA en "jouant pour voir ce qui se passe". Les conseils du livre de base et les éléments fourni dans le supplément Métapole (le contexte complet utilisé ici) m'ont été d'une grande aide.
Il s'agit d'un setting Cyberpunk dans une ville de Paris Post-apocalyptique, avec une caractéristique supplémentaire par rapport au livre de base : l'Honneur. #jdr#pbta#cyberpunk#ttrpg 1/4
Je remercie les personnes qui étaient autour de la table (virtuelle), qui ont su évoluer pleinement dans cet univers, et utiliser les possibilités introduites par ce setting pour en voir l'originalité. A travers ces nombreuses missions et tranches de vie. Iels ont rebondi avec panache sur les propositions de l'ensemble de la table pour construire ensemble une histoire riche, puissante et qui nous transporte.
Je voudrais terminer ce retour par un remerciement particulier à @Khelren pour la traduction et l'édition de la version française de The Sprawl, sans quoi je n'aurais probablement pas sauté le pas de la maîtrise du PbtA Cyberpunk.

J'ai un nouveau projet de jeu!
Nom de travail: Le Conseil de l'Ombre
Pitch: Dans une cour aux intrigues incessantes, les PJ font partie du Conseil de l'Ombre: un groupe de personne nommées par le souverain pour déjouer les complots qui visent le trône et la pérennité du royaume.
Inspirations: cour de Versailles, Trône de Fer, The Last Kingdom, les Rois Maudits, la série The Tudors.
Ce sera de l'enquête émergente qui utilisera des mécaniques inspirées de Brindlewood Bay. Ce sera la première fois que je crée un jeu dérivé des pbta et basé dans un contexte de jeu de ma création également (le monde d'Austrand). Hâte de m'y mettre sérieusement, pour l'instant je brainstorme tranquillement sur l'ambiance exacte que je recherche, est-ce que je veux un fil conducteur, quelle taille pour les parties (oneshot, campagne courte, campagne longue?), est-ce que j'incorpore d'autres éléments à part les complots... C'est passionnant.

Alors j'aime pas mal le #pbta pour ce qui est approprié (par exemple, pbta pour Avatar the Last Airbender je ne trouve PAS ça approprié) ; et les dérivés que peut en faire Kobayashi (Striscia par exemple).
Sinon ben, en vrai j'aime quand ça utilise pleins de dés différents sans que ça soit du D&D. Je pense que j'aimerais Cortex si je testais, par exemple.
@Janvanhouten j'étais certain d'avoir lu ça, mais peut-être que c'était la supposition de quelqu'un et pas une déclaration de Koba. Mais les conséquences sur 7 à 9, quand même, ça me semblait signé...
@Janvanhouten Oui. J'aime bien que ça soit un peu plus classique. Un des problèmes de pbta à mon sens c'est les fois où tu aimerais pouvoir juste "esquiver le rocher qui tombe" et ça va être "garder son sang-froid".
