RPG tip from the archive: PCs having an easy time with zombies or scarecrows? Fill them with swarms of wasps that flood out on slashing or piercing attacks.
What’s a good retail price for a two deck hobby card game? Two 54 card decks in a retail box with 18-page rules booklet. Comic style art. Good production value. Sturdy cards. #rpg#ttrpg
Made by a small press publisher. No print run of 10,000, so $10 retail is not reasonable.
RPGBOT Announces BFRD.net and ToV Optimization Content
Today we're excited to announce the launch of BFRD.net, your rules companion for Black Flag Roleplaying, as well as character optimization content for Tales of the Valiant.
maybe this is a hot take, but i think having broad weapon proficiency makes sense for fighters and maybe monks.
pretty much every one else that gets weapon proficiencies should be choosing one or two weapons that they've trained with, and they should need to re-train over a week or more before being proficient with something else.
The two things that I personally feel have always been terrible about the design of #DnD are the class-based character development system and the Vancian magic system.
These systems irrationally limit the choices players can make in designing and developing their PCs, and TSR/WotC/Hasbro has missed so many opportunities to do away with these systems over the past 50 years.
But, they can be fixed, within the existing framework of #Dnd5E. (more)
@zdl AD&D 2nd ed was very modular for good & ill. It had lots of mini games which didn’t interact with each other. That was making it easy for house rules but not easy to teach. #ttrpg
Credit where it's due, it's a relief that DnDBeyond has confirmed #DnD's 5.5 edition will be included in the Creative Commons SRD. This will be a net gain for the #TTRPG hobby, whatever WotC/Hasbro have planned to leverage profits from their famous brand.
We're still waiting on the promised 3.5 rules CC SRD as well, though.
What if dragons came in broods like cicadas?
Every Y centuries a brood returned.
Brood 19 and Brood 37 overlap next year and your people are very, very worried. #DnD#WorldBuilding#TTRPG
The Helm of Positivity came into play during tonight's #ElementalApocalypse game, in which the paladin Valinor summoned a wall of radiance.
And damn, is that thing bright or what?
The shadows I'd planned to ambush the party with were forced to retreat from the brilliant light, which also revealed their original corpses in the nearby lake.
Those corpses - nicely pickled - led the group to suspect there is a black dragon lair nearby. #DnD#DnD5e#TTRPG#RPG#Greyhawk
