More terrifying than any first-time dungeon: musical performances. And I used to do these IRL, some just with a piano accompaniment - and those were terrifying too.
Apparently fictional audiences bring back that feeling.
But it's done and I hope I don't have to repeat that again. I still remember my hideous performance during the "be a conductor" Starlight event...🙈
@beanjbunny Purple hair is amazing though, with or without a cry for help. But if you do need help, I do hope you manage to reach out and receive it (preferrably to a skilled professional, best equipped to help you) ❤️
Have to say, as much as I'm looking forward to #DawnTrail (starting an Ascian-free story, huzzah), I'm not sure how I feel about a neon-lit street in a fantasy setting.
The Allagans had advanced tech but in the distant past. The Garleans tried to harness it but imploded, due to...leadership issues.
"Solution Nine" is jarringly futuristic, considering my main is into magicks and swords.
@FibroJedi It makes patently no sense, but then again, a lot of genre conventions in other genres and series make no sense either — I personally read the contrast between high and modern fantasy as being quintessential to what Final Fantasy is, but that's again just me.
@FibroJedi (Notable partial exception here being FFXVI, which Yoshi-P said was intended to explicitly buck that trend. Even then, it winds up having ancient civilizations that follow the trend, and has plot points directly calling out the contradiction. To say more would be massively spoiler-y.)
Why didn't anyone tell me Variant Dungeons were so fun in #FFXIV !? I'm hooked. This is like the perfect solo content for me since I can never find a group.
@mikey
Variants are fantastic! I did all of them solo, then when people finally took an interest I got to enjoy them with whatever size group was available. I'm excited to see more of them in Dawntrail! :blobcataww:
@mikey lol when I first picked a caster I was intimidated by it and went with BLM thinking it was easier, I was way wrong lol but now I like both. I also played the whole game as SCH not realizing SMN leveled with it.
I wish more games did stuff like #FinalFantasy Tactic's "Faith" stat. It's mostly a generic force multiplier for incoming magical healing/damage
But if your faith is 0, AKA your character does not trust/believe in the divine whatsoever...magic doesn't affect them. At all. Cannot be healed, or hurt by magic. Which is otherwise, by any other measure, completely real in this universe.
The game mechanic is kind of neat (though requires serious work to tinker with IIRC) but the lore implications are super cool.
Like the 'divine' is real (and, apparently, mostly evil) but it only hurts you if you think it will. But it's also not just psychosomatic/groupthink. You ACTUALLY die.
IDK if it's ever explained in lore but I wonder if atheist characters in the game's world actually see the effects of magic or not.
It's some real Bene Gesserit shit if you see this giant fucking dragon drop from the sky, breathe fire at you and you're just thinking "Fuck off summons aren't real. Fuck you. Nerd."
@xgranade Check if your rendering resolution is set to 100. If not, it will apply FSR/DLSS scaling (the setting can't be turned off so you'll see it next to the score but at 100% it won't have an effect).
It should be a resolution setting bug and not an issue with scaling, my screenshots are properly 2560x1080
@exec To be sure, it all works fine if I open Settings and then cancel. The problem only comes in if I run the benchmark without opening Settings at all.
When I make sure to open Settings, the screenshots are all 2160p as expected.
@mikey I started playing right at the end of the last one so I’m looking forward to it. It sounds like it’s not just a couple of fetch quests like other events?
Haven’t gotten this to run full size yet, does very well on my laptop at the default windowed size. 🤷 Borderless claims full size but the window is the same. I’ll try Fullscreen later.
