@viriato@JHein Basically, the mundane-but-secretive Venetian mining operations in Germany got turned into its own mythology cycle by the Germans - where the Venetians were all secret mages with bizarre methods of gold harvesting, and Venice as a magical fairy Otherworld.
I haven’t played Pandemic in over five years, but coming back to it was a great time. Such a fun game that feels a little more real after the last few years. I know some people consider it basic, but I like these games to try and bring people into the hobby. And they don’t take an entire day to play.
Today’s solo board game adventure was Castles of Mad King Ludwig. One of my favorite games, this was actually the first time I tried the solo rules. Not as fun as it is with other players, but provides a different kind of challenge that is rewarding!
@hellerphant I'm a big fan of the digital version of Race for the Galaxy, and the digital version of Spirit Island is pretty good, too. I've heard good things about the digital versions of Terraforming Mars, Root, and Wingspan, although I've not played any of those myself.

• Ticket to ride. We got trounced by a guy who built a giant hand for the first dozen turns and then proceeded to buy the entire northern line. As he built up cards I said “Uh oh, it’s the hedge fund”, and then the hedge fund started investing in railways.
• We Didn’t Playtest This At All. As always, lives up to its name 😅Best moment of the night was when someone got everyone but me and her out of the game, a person played “Spite” (you just lost? Fine! Everyone else loses!) and I played “Surprise!” (you just lost when there were only two players left? Surprise, you won!)
• Let’s Summon Demons. Sold my soul and won! My Clockwork Satan put in the work; had two turns where I rolled 9 three times in a row 😂
@Tuttu you’re always ok to ask questions, I’m sorry, I didn’t mean for it to sound that way at all. I’m just very specific and focused by nature and wanted to make sure you knew all was very likely good :)
@britt Don't worry, there was no offense taken. It was a criticism against myself for not doing things in good order.
That is to say (re)reading the rules first and asking for clarification if needed after.
I'm writing my own game, tentatively called #100Swords since I'm bad at naming things, it is a d% system like Call of Cthulhu, but with some ideas from #Alternity and #Dnd and GURPS. Trying to make a d% system that isn't super lethal, as pretty much all d% systems are for some reason.
@Jackgiantkiller I remember spending a week of vacation on creating a #Gurps Character (that I then played for 5 years). I loved that — but I cannot do this anymore. @Canageek
I admit it, this is a long-overdue review for one of my favorite wargames - Command & Colors and its Napoleonic era installment. Let me share my experiences and views on this great title - enjoy!
