Are Lemmy and Kbin ready?...

Defederation has come up in multiple different contexts recently in the Fediverse. Even more so, the way other protocols are developing is setting up more significant questions about future choices regarding federation as well.

Some hobbyist hackers have come up with novel ways to connect vintage computers to the Fediverse, and you can run the code yourself.

Mastodon is interoperable, decentralized, operated by a nonprofit, lively, and, ACTUALLY, isn't hard to use. So why is everyone championing Threads as the main Twitter alternative?

In 6 days time much of Reddit will go dark. Users will flood to Lemmy until that crashes. @ernest are you planning to put any temporary extra server resources in place to hoover up a few thousand users?...

A lot of artists, etc. are reluctant to leave corporate social media like Twitter, due to fears over the Fediverse (usually spread by other people, that think Fediverse = Gab + some cryprobros + maybe Pawoo), or not willing to understand it....

Nice to see the Pleroma team getting an NLNet grant so development can pick back up. I missed it when it happened but apparently there was a big shakeup with the Pleroma dev team. I'm glad they seem to be recovering from that and hopefully we'll see some sustained progress with Pleroma again.

i went and searched for a community on Lemmy. Found it, but was logged out so I couldn't create content... tried to login, it says "logged in" in the lower left, but I'm not as it still says "login" at the top right....

Notes: The vulnerability appears to be with Lemmy software, and other instances are possibly vulnerable until the Lemmy devs resolve it, however Lemmy.World has implemented their own fix in the meantime. It has not yet been ruled out if non-admin users have had their tokens compromised, but all accounts should be forced to...
