Okay people - especially people - can one actually buy just a plain old acoustic guitar these days at a reasonable price? I'd love to be able to get a little more bang for my buck with just a regular old acoustic (no electronics/pickups) Auditorium or Concert size guitar (not a Dreadnought if I can help it) to play in my family room and out on my back deck.

I don't ever plan on playing out, so no need to plug in? I just want to strum and play cowboy chords and shit, but don't want a bulky dread, nor do I want a little Parlor guitar.

Please help with ideas/recommendations and used is fine.

Thank you in advance!

@CoachMark What's a reasonable price? Under $1000? $2000? I've heard good things about Recording King guitars, but I haven't played one. For a concert sized guitar, the Guild M-120 is $699 and all mahogany, which seems like a good deal if that's your vibe.

Full disclosure: I’m a self-taught rank amateur, so take my opinions with as many grains of salt as you deem appropriate.

I bought a Johnson 000 years ago before they started using the Recording King name for guitars. It’s pretty much what you describe: inexpensive, plays nicely, no electronics. A Recording King would probably be a good choice.

@tidmarsh @CoachMark I would give Guild a look as well. If you’re willing to up a little, you might be able to find a used Gibson L-00 for not too much more. That’s what I did and it’s one of my favorite acoustics.
