@mightyspaceman what language? C? C++? Python? Rust? Assembly?

@jpm C. It probably shouldn't have been that hard, it's basically arduino. In fact you can use the same arduino bootloader. I was just being stupid because VScode didn't have permission to access the serial port...

@otte_homan Mmm. I'm using one borrowed from a mentor at school that's part of some energy/power program we are doing in STEM class. By energy/power I mean energy conservation, power usage etc. - anything related to the grid. Not general electronics things per se, but it's a very vague project and we can really do anything that involves that kind of topic.

It's a D1 mini, fairly standard. I already have a board at home but I...ahem...stepped on it, and now the USB-micro connection is fairly unstable and only works some of the time. It's certainly fixable, but would require some SMD rework with a heatgun, which I have access to at my makerspace but haven't got around to it.

But I have a nodeMCU ESP8266 board en route from lonely binary, and the person said that we may possibly be able to keep some components after the project is over, so that's all sorted out.

Wow I just wrote a lot
