@godpod I disagree. Democrats and Republicans switched sides during the Johnson administration in the mid-60s. Prior to that, the Republicans were the good guys and the Democrats (specifically the southern Democrats, better known as the Dixiecrats) were the evil ones. When the Dixiecrats defected from the Democrat party and moved to the Republican party is when the two parties switched sides. I remember it had something to do with disagreeing with Kennedy's policies, and that Johnson was continuing and expanding them.

That's funny, Democrats were in favor of slavery when it was legal in the Southern states. Democrats are in favor of abortion up to the time of birth. Democrats are in favor of legalizing drugs. Democrats are in favor of an open Southern border, relaxations of laws, defunding police, allowing criminal to walk under no-bail laws. Who's the evil ones here?
@godpod well, Lincoln was a republican, well, and his reasons were not all humanitarian, but it’s more complex than that, the ideological shift happened because an electoral strategy in the begging of the 20th century (as far as I know).
