This is the fundamental problem with the . They design streets with the expectation that there will be traffic enforcement, when in fact doesn’t do any. Traffic safety needs to be self-enforcing, i.e., the designs need to incorporate physical barriers such that it’s impossible for drivers to do the wrong thing.

@scott The section north of the Lefty O’Doul Bridge (which is two-way and street-level) is officially open to Townsend Street. This is the northbound section from Toni Stone to the south end of the bridge. It’s one way and sidewalk-level. The north end is blocked off because there’s still some construction, but you can go around it easily. The entrance to the lane is open at the southern end and there are no signs indicating that it’s not meant to be open yet.

@scott by the way, Third Street/Townsend Street now has a fabulous protected intersection:

Congratulations, , on destroying one of the few silver linings of the pandemic. I know of four restaurants that have already gotten rid of their parklets due to the upcoming draconian regulations.

Well this is new. Bay Wheels now makes you choose “low assist” when a station only has electric bikes left if you want your ride to be free.

A Colorado judge keeps Donald Trump on the 2024 ballot, rejecting a challenge under the Constitution’s insurrection clause. https://www.denverpost.com/2023/11/17/colorado-judge-keeps-donald-trump-on-ballot/

BruceHalperin,
@BruceHalperin@sfba.social avatar

@w7voa The judge ruled that he did engage in insurrection, but that the 14th amendment doesn’t apply to the office of the president, which is preposterous. It says “any office or trust under the United States or any state”.

... if you use their mobile app

@doyce Why would I ever need to sue McDonald’s? I’m not going to to spill hot coffee in my lap.
