maikelthedev,

Right so there are quite a few bits and pieces in that are far from ideal. We now the good, it is time to point out the ugly:

  • Why can't we filter boosts? This renders any timeline unreadable if you follow more than 100 users.
  • Why can't we get help? With mastodon, people see you in the local timeline. You can ask info, but since problem 1 (boosts can't be hidden) means the local timeline is whatever local people boosts more than their own genuine thoughts, they can't see you asking for help.
  • Edit button. But it's coming.

Those are the 3 I've compiled so far. And the boosting issue is really getting on my nerves. SPECIALLY now that I've brought in all my follows/followers.

Uwu,

@maikelthedev i will add my use case for Filter on list from a previus post of myself :
"Option to exclude people, which I follow, from my Home?Timeline.
(Reason - I follow them on thematic list)

panos,

@maikelthedev filtering boosts is possible an a per-user basis - and that's a very fresh addition. It's not possible per-timeline yet, indeed.

maikelthedev,

@panos I know. I am doing it though but tinkering with the css.

I follow 3000 people. If I didn't filter their quotes I wouldn't be able to keep up with their genuine thoughts. It'll just be a time line full of the same trending boosts again and again and again and again for the rest of eternity or until one gets tired of scrolling down.

maikelthedev,
panos,

@maikelthedev I get it, boosts should be grouped at least. There have been many ideas/suggestions to improve the timelines but I personally don't code so it's a matter of devs picking up these issues and implementing them (like it recently happened with boost mutes for specific users).

maikelthedev,

@panos yep, agreed. I did fill up an issue in their codeberg repo. But in the meantime this is a workaround that allows us with more than 100 follows to read them. It's no ideal, but it does the job 😀

rudiev,

@maikelthedev also would like to see an option to filter timeline posts so as not to see tons of replies either. Another way to keep the timeline from getting bogged down in threads

maikelthedev,
  • There's no auto-delete either.
BryceWray,

@maikelthedev And a minor one: if you expand a graphic or otherwise have a modal up, pressing Esc (desktop, of course) does nothing.
