My family are #WarSurvivors . My parents never knew what no war felt like until we came to Canada as war refugees - they lived through wars for their whole lives til we fled. I was conceived in a bomb shelter. Born while active shelling was happening.
No one really wants to flee only homes they ever knew with only basic supplies. As war survivors, we never wanted revenge. We wanted peace. We wanted safety to live simple daily life. As victims of violent war, we only wanted the violence to end.
I want people to remember that the agents of war machines treat all civilians like we are empty traffic cones that they can shoot up & not feel bad about. I want people to remember the folks who suffer most aren't elites. We were desperate citizens trapped under corrupt govts ego sieges. We hate ALL violent, take everything by force governments!
FYI - some of my family members died because they were used as human shields by both US & resistance armies. Don't fucking even try to tell me about dirty war tactics. My family fucking LIVED IT. BOTH warmongering sides have never admitted they used human shields in US war in Vietnam to this day. I know it happened because some of my family members were taken by US army & returned in body bags with fucking US flag shit atop.
Also - don't try to tell me what some armies do isn't fucking #genocidal & not comparable to Indigenous experience here. WTAF. Many Indigenous #elders here, in fucking high conflict #BritishColumbia where #Indigenous ppls have been fighting for longer than most of you have been alive have compared ongoing genocides to their own ongoing #genocides by #colonial govts. They can #recognize the similarities & #atrocities. I listen to offline elders - not ppl online.
People who do that shit need to fucking read the #BalfourDeclaration. That paper is much worse than White Papers - Canada genocide papers.
They also need to fucking remember that MANY of us were violently displaced, murdered, jailed by colonial forces & we don't have much access to our homelands because we can't easily travel there. Many of my Indigenous friends recognize that & feel compassion. They understand that they're still close enough to access their own lands & peoples.

I hope none of you reading this are ever held at multiple gunpoints to your head & given 1 minute to choose to let them rape one of your family members or let them shoot you dead in the head because that's what my Dad, my Grandpa & my Uncles were threatened with. One of my Uncles was shot dead because he refused to sacrifice his wife & kids.
War crimes rarely get punishments. Half the world doesn't care unless one of their own is at risk.

How the hell do you choose in this kinda trapped environment & how the fuck can you blame ppl when you're so privileged to never even have to be scared this shit would happen to you & ppl you love? You can remain casually ignorant because deaths of thousands of innocents don't affect your daily privileged lives.

@msquebanh@trabern America hasn’t stopped their genocidal violence since the birth of this nation. The entire 🌎 understands the trauma America has caused for generations, whether domestically, or globally. Horrific history of violence.
My Dad was first traumatized in 1968. He had to witness his best friend being tortured - on public street - before evil army shot him in the head.
One week later, my Dad & my Grandpa ended up peeing their pants in public because they were both held at gunpoint because Grandpa said you're just trying to get money from us & you're greedy devils. They bashed Grandpa & almost killed him. Dad felt helpless. All my uncles felt helpless. We dug underground bunkers because we needed to.
My Mom was highly traumatized during entire pregnancy. She was traumatized while in hospital, giving birth to me & terrified that we would all die inside the hospital. I have a lot of intergenerational traumas from that - it's passed down via genes. My Dad was heavily traumatized & felt helpless to help his own family.
Please remember that most victims of war are the ones who don't want to see more war violence. We abhor it. We know what kind of hell it is. We lost many loved ones to war.
