@techdirt@mvario@mmasnick oh, yeah, you’re totally going to make lots and lots of money from the people you love to treat like trash. I swear, if someone decided to try to shine a flashlight, in this guy‘s ear, the light would come through the other side.
@mvario@mmasnick@techdirt Some excellent points - in typical corporate fashion Reddit handled this badly and could have done it differently.
But I feel a sense of entitlement from both sides, with each being ungenerous.
We can’t know Huffman’s heart, but I think he really is just just saying that as a business, they can't afford to give away free server time and bandwidth so others can profit from it.
I don't think he's saying, “Thanks for all the free content, suckers - yoink!”
There's nothing that appeals to me less then the idea of using the official Reddit app, which always seems to turn my phone into a microwave as soon as the app is open
“The protest, what it really affects is the everyday users, most of whom aren’t involved in this or the changes that spurred this,” Huffman said.
You can't make this shit up! User only exist if someone produce something to be consumed. And who does this genius think that produce the content? No one can be so out of touch. Start to believe the goal is simply to destroy the platform .
@mvario@mmasnick This sounds to me like turf-rolling for taking Reddit down a subscription path in which only some teaser content will be free to view. If Reddit is your walled garden, why would you exempt your visitors from paying you rent?
@mvario@mmasnick@techdirt I've been thrown OFF Reddit because I Post Links to my Blog... So... Whatever they do is Unimportant to me... I don't read it or write to it...
@techdirt@mvario@mmasnick He called moderators “aristocrats”, presumably because they had the power to…moderate? But he’s taking it away, and holding that to himself. Making him an autocrat. No surprise. But it’s always amusing when a person blurts out an auto-contradiction like that.
@mvario@mmasnick@techdirt can I go to spez and bill him for my contributions? I will take 10 cents per comment, and a quarter for every upvote I received.
Let's all do this, see how quickly he understands who gave away what.
