The most ridiculous thing about US notions of decorum, is that people are expected to be silent when Black women are attacked.🤷🏿♂️
If a Black woman is attacked and no one says anything, it's allowed to slide. But if a Black woman is attacked and people say anything in response, either calmly and politely like AOC did, or with an in-kind response like Crockett did, then all the "neutral" parties come pouring out of the woodwork, worried about "decorum."
@mekkaokereke I loved Crockets comeback. She is a hero. I almost fell out of my seat when she asked specifically about what she would be allowed to say.
And the mtg question of "did I hurt your feelings" is an admission from a bully.
If you plant a tree every day, in a lifetime you will plant a forest.
Our habits make us, #composting is a very rewarding habit, if you do it every day, in a matter of years you will be able to fix your topsoil, #GrowYourOwn plants, and create abundance.
You will also do your part in putting the carbon back into the #soil and help balance the #climate.
@compost I'm so proud of this little guy. Most of the good trees have been cut for construction, and the large hardwoods are a scary thin line. Maybe I can slowly stretch this into a forest that doesn't look like it will tip over
@ai6yr masks on planes is a spectacularly good idea. All of my business travel has people getting sick on the trip. The people masking on the plane are never the sick ones
It's strange to me when I see people get upset about people doing good deeds, and posting it online.
"They're just doing it for attention!"
Yeah, so what? I'd much rather see people doing nice things for attention, than the people who do mean pranks or wasting food. A good deed is still good, even if it's done for the wrong reasons.
@RickiTarr I was taught that a good deed doesn't count if anyone sees it. That kind of makes sense and I still do many things anonymously because of it. But anyone who says a "good deed doesn't count" is entirely fucked up.
I also firmly believe to never assume motives. I don't care why someone does a good thing. I only want everyone to keep passing good actions around
@ai6yr at first I questioned the grassroots nature of so many protests at the same time using the same techniques (and a lot of matching tents) .
Now I question how it's possible for ALL of the administration's to employ the police in the same way, even after seeing how poorly it turns out. Who the hell is advising campuses to beat more children?
@flexghost I hope no one forgets the reason that party of cretins is turning. They showed who they are and they were going to lose everything. I hope their fans remember these years come November
In an #RNC memo obtained from Democracy Docket, the committee outlines its plans to ramp up its efforts in election-related litigation and explains its #legal strategy to limit mail-in and absentee voting.
Honest question for white people that don't consider themselves racist:
White nationalists have been vocal about their attacks on DEI. These are literally the same people that talk about Charlottesville, Jan 6th, and ethnic cleansing.
They've laid out exactly how they plan to destroy DEI.
Make false claims that DEI is about giving unqualified Black people an unfair advantage
Work with racist politicians to use this as a pretext to make all DEI programs illegal.
@mekkaokereke I do speak up, but I dont know if it's visible. I will shut down people who blame things like the Boeing door blowout on DEI, but the issue is they wouldn't say that in front of people that need to hear my vocalization.
Today’s anecdotal Reddit post, is on AITA, read the comments. My wife was reading this to me this morning as she often does and I said “I know what causes those issues.” 🤔🦠 and then she started reading me the comments, so I decided I would share this here with you guys. So many people are having issues like this worldwide but nobody’s really covering it in the press so you wouldn’t know it, unless you’ve read the studies for yourself. - https://www.reddit.com/r/BestofRedditorUpdates/s/G3v2j0bm5q
@shekinahcancook@Brad this has been my baggage for years now. Fresh fruit smells like trash. Sour candy (vitamin c) smells like trash. I loved eating as much raw as possible, now I can only eat that if it's very unripe.
The docs told me that some people recover in about 3 months. When I asked about the people who take longer, they gave me a frown and a shrug.
It's been well over 3 months. It gets slowly better, but others I have met with this are also on the long road to slow recovery
J.K. Rowling also writes under a pen name of "Robert Galbraith", publishing over half a dozen titles under that name, most of which have TV adaptations.
Robert Galbraith Heath was the American Psychiatrist who pioneered Gay Conversion Therapy to convert homosexuals through electro-shock therapy.
Ian, you're wrong. I watched the speech. Eric unpacks the relevant context here. It's a very odd look to be spinning for #Trump like this.
Eric Columbus:
Wise conway thread below about Trump's "bloodbath" remarks. And per @metzgov transcription Trump said the effect on the car industry would be "the least of" the effects of the "bloodbath for the country." This is the opposite of just talking about cars.
@GottaLaff Jay Kuo had a great write up on this today, explaining why the cars context is step one and this will continue. He is setting the stage for violence, and we all know this. The people covering for him didn't learn from the last time
@oldrawgabbit 500 range errors are problems with connections between web server and app server. It's fully behind the scenes problems, and nothing that you can affect
If homeless people (key word here "homeless") cannot sleep in public, please explain to me so that my puny brain can understand...where exactly should they fucking sleep?????
I'm still not onto Black history. I'm still on white US history.
Q: Why were Black folk so happy when OJ was acquitted? To be honest, it feels disgusting. Why does it seem like you're happy he got away with murder?
A: Racism. Black folk did not like OJ that much. In fact, many Black people think he did it. Black folk didn't "celebrate OJ." Black folk celebrated the hope that a brutally unjust, evil, and racist system, could be defeated at all.
