The D.C. Circuit opinion rejecting Trump's immunity claims clearly was written for an audience of six: the Supreme Court's conservative justices. Much of its reasoning is originalist or historical, and it relies almost exclusively on caselaw, historical precedents, and conservative authorities that even Thomas, Alito and Barrett will have difficulty ignoring (quoting opinions by Scalia, Gorsuch, Kavanaugh; the Federalist Papers; even Dr. freaking Johnson's "A Dictionary of the English Language").
