You know it's web scale when your tarball is base64-encoded and embedded in a JSON string.

@samir We learned how to use a hammer, now we're entitled to assume that the whole world is made of nails.

On the other hand, one day you can simply remove the base64 encoding, and brag that you've increased data throughput by 50%.

@fabio I think you’d be replacing large chunks with \xAB, so you might find the opposite. 😄

I kind of wanted to write a HTTP extension for sending key-value pairs… then realised I’d just invented multipart/mixed.

barubary,

@samir Oh, I know this one. Like when you download a custom "image pack" for an HTML game, and the format turns out to be executable JavaScript that registers functions that set .innerHTML of some elements to HTML code with img elements whose src attribute is a data:image/jpeg;base64,... string.

@samir

Not to be confused with BSON's byte arrays or the JSONB data type or UBJSON's...

jernej__s,

@samir How about base64-encoded XML inserted into another XML, which is then inserted into 3rd XML as a string (so <> galore)?
