Funny - where I want to be seems magical, where I am seems ordinary, and when I get somewhere I want to be, it is still ordinary.
Maybe my sense of wonder is dampened by a lack of selective serotonin reuptake inhibition?
Ah, if dangling a shiny imagined time in front of me keeps me putting one foot in front of the other, maybe it's all good.

A new pedal will solve it, that always works for me. It’s always the last one I’ll need too….

@L0wKey I could use a muff. I only have two pedals - wait, three - and they sound slightly different.
What I really want is a big empty room to play in, and some people to play with.

I feel that!

I love fuzz, it’s my jam! Most of my rig is static and I just add the fuzz I’m feeling for that day/mood/guitar/whatever

Muffs are an absolute classic and everyone should have one (or 6). That said, there is a whole world in just muffs! The wonder of fuzz is every box is different even ones with the same paintwork.

@L0wKey I heard J Mascis has a trophy case full of Big Muffs.
JHS Muffaletta is many variants in one box.
I tried one in a store that was some Pi variant with a switch that may have done something with mids.
The sound of tearing cardboard x 1000.

Fuzz, as a rule, is super sensititve to it’s context. Every part of the rig is relevant to how a fuzz will sound coning out the speaker. This is a blessing (there’s endless options and delights out there) and a curse (the same fuzz can sound glorious one time and appalling the next due to a minor knob tweak or slight change in overall gain staging).

Some circuits are less prone to this than others (muffs are, as a rule, very forgiving).

But when you find one that speaks to you…

@eyesquash @L0wKey Me too 🎸

@NigelTufnel @eyesquash @L0wKey I heart fuzz! The one I use the most is the BBE - a Fuzz Face clone that is dark and wooly! The Malekko is a Superfuzz clone with an internal scoop switch and the Mastotron can be starved to spit out gnarled velcro.

@eyesquash@mastodon.world avatar

@_slotek_ @NigelTufnel @L0wKey I have a mini blue fuzzface, a fox tone clone octave, and whatever fuzz+octave is in a Dan-o-wah - not hooked up right now. Wooly or chewy/+nasal, with the wah's fuzz between the others.

@eyesquash @NigelTufnel @L0wKey Those all sound wicked!

@_slotek_ @NigelTufnel @L0wKey I forgot to say that none of them rip like a muff.

@NigelTufnel @eyesquash @L0wKey I’ve had a few muffs/clones and so far I like the EHX Ram’s Head and yeah you can easily put it anywhere in the signal chain. Pretty cool with a Screamer in front too. Moar Fuzz!
