Anyways, I removed my Tumblr.com blog before this happened. I will need to find another hosting, but I'm afraid all of them will do the same thing. or add a "Pay a monthly extra if you don't want your data to be sold to AI"companies".

@jwildeboer Went through and deleted three old Tumblr blogs and a handful of old Wordpress.com blogs yesterday. Not that they have been in use for the past ten years, but that was the message I could send.
@jwildeboer infuriating, but, I had already put that content "out there" on the open web, so my fury is mostly at the way Automattic handled this and sought to make money from my / our content.

This could be just a move to create an artificial degree of remoteness to the data intake copyright infringement. Now they can deflect to Tumblr and Wordpress as the infringing parties as 'they bought the data legally in the marketplace'... 'they swore to us that they had the rights to sell the data'.
Remember Cambridge Analytica scandal? - 'They swore to us that they were not abusing the data and they had deleted it, and so we believed.' (Zuckerberg).
@kikobar@saxnot Scraping data delivers a lot of garbage. Getting access to data in structured ways is therefore a real benefit for AI companies, IMHO, and that is why these deals pop up everywhere now.

@byggvir Did I say it is a problem? Well, it is a problem in that these companies decide behind your back to give data to a third party and the only thing you can do is opt-out. That IS a problem IMHO.
