@evan EST overlaps well enough with UTC to unlock working with EU folks without either being much outside of 9 to 5.
Previously I've found Central and Mountain to be that bit late if you want to have some sync time every day and some of the team are UTC-2 or 3.
West coast is a massive ache for everybody in EU TZs.
This is interesting. I find being in Eastern time convenient. I work with Californians, Argentinians, Germans and Africans. So, in Eastern time, I'm usually only a few hours from any of them.
@evan Having lived in 3/4, including Pacific, I can't even muster an argument for Pacific. They might as well rename it the "You still have some hours left in your day so you can finish this thing we on the East failed to finish" timezone. Also football starts too early.
@evan as someone who works remote primarily with people in north america, the best time zone to live in hands down is eastern time, because that's the one that would theoretically let me sleep in the latest (not accounting for local core hours, otherwise in my particular situation it happens to work out that central is better)
Either I do not understand time zones or I do not understand what you mean, since the other zones are later. Even trying in terms of a European or Oceana time zone I cannot make sense of Eastern allowing you to sleep in later.
Thus, if you are working in eastern time, but you work remotely with someone in another north american time zone, everyone's schedules are earlier or the same as yours. Great if you are a night owl, and terrible if you're an early bird.
