@daringfireball I always assumed that ram in iPhones corresponded with the demands of the camera. So you have the pro iPhones getting more ram because they sport more powerful cameras which presumably require more ram to operate properly. So with Apple, you get the specs you need, not necessarily what you want.
@daringfireball I think 8gb can be enough for basic usage people. It probably should be increased but at the very least make the upgrade to 16gb $50 instead of $200.
The bigger offence, imo, is the stingy 5GB of iCloud storage. The fact they give you extra for transferring your phone surely shows they know that 5GB is effectively useless.
