@jpm long ago, when my kid was in 3rd or 4th grade, I think, her Catholic PS (we aren't, but it was close and good) held an after-school with parents "where did I come from" kind of thing. When the mechanical basics were explained, my dear child (about to have her own 1st child), turned around, looked at me, and said loud enough for the room to hear, "Dad, are they for real?!"
@jpm I don't envy parents those conversations. Thankfully my conversations with my cats were more along the lines of me just telling them gruesome bedtime stories about the origin of their dinner.
