@gsuberland That is pretty close to the cost of just the gold used for plating both outer layers if you were to order the boards with fully exposed 50x50mm ENIG coating on both sides
@gsuberland Capped vias are free on 4L/6L at the moment too. I guess they have some investment money to spend again, this time on aggressively going after their higher-end competition.
@gsuberland 50x50mm size limit, which is a bit cramped but still very usable. The pain comes when you try to get them to do assembly, because their minimum assembly dimensions are 70x70
@gsuberland oh they probably do that for everything they make, not just the 6+ layer, it wouldn’t make sense otherwise. Also why they charge more for expedited 24-hour manufacturing
@gsuberland yep, I got a run of 6L boards for AU$5 delivered about a month ago. Their slow and cheap shipping is being delivered to .au in about a week and a half at the moment.
@gsuberland here’s the boards I got done with that promo a month ago. 0.4mm pitch BGA - yes the lands have been a bit squished so I could fan out the inner pads ON THE SAME LAYER. The only 2 I couldn’t fan out were C3 and D4
@f4grx@gsuberland and I figure the only way to get competent, and eventually good, at SMT soldering anything, is to just accept the fact that you’ll fuck it up at first and learn from what fucked up. The main BGA part here is only $5 each, and the first 5 boards I did ended up with a couple of bridges each but none that completely prevented any of them from working
