Despite humans being viewed with disgust and loathing throughout the galaxy, most ships keep exactly one human on board for purposes of fetching items off tall shelves
@mcc it would be extra funny if the human grab stuff from shelves much higher than they are and nobody knew they use a collapsible stool because aliens are too busy being disgusted and loathing to watch them do it or ask how they do it
@mcc humans have other uses. There are some problems where what you need is "somebody that's really good at throwing a rock". Need to dock ships and the tractor beam is out? Stick a human in a vac suit, put a monkeyfist on the end of a nanocarbon rope, and have him toss the lash across.
