@docpop I would characterize it as 6/8. Rather than 1-2-3, 1-2-3, it's 1-2-3-4-5-6, 1-2-3-4-5-6. Speed it up a bit and it's an Irish jig meter. But in places, especially the chorus, he starts acting like it's 2/4 and the groups of 3 within the 6-beat measure are triplets within the 2/4. Like this:

1-2-3 | 4-5-6
1 | 2

If that makes sense?

It's called a hemiola when people superimpose rhythms like that (not to be confused with a hematoma which is when you have a blood bruise). African polyrhythms are famous for this
