If screaming “apartheid” has an impact in delegitimising the very basis of Israel’s existence, accusing it of genocide is a still more powerful weapon. So it has, likewise, been repeated until it has now become accepted as fact – such that it can be asserted without contradiction.

Neither apartheid nor genocide have been proven, but as we've seen with far too many things like especially with climate science denial repeating a lie over and over can make people believe anything sadly.

@GreenFire Earlier today one of those gave me a 'definition' of antisemitism which is so limited and ahistorical it wouldn't apply to the Nazis.
This person is very certain they know exactly what antisemitism is.
It's like words have no meaning anymore, only very intense feelings.

@emmaaum
Making Nazism, not the term but the political ideology, seems to be one of the goals of the Russian and Iranian political technologists pushing this psyops campaign on the west it seems to me.

emmaaum,
@emmaaum@zirk.us avatar

@GreenFire Perhaps. Or maybe it's more that Nazi ideologies were incorporated into other groups' antisemitism? Not sure.

Thank you for that post btw. I've been wanting to write on this phenomenon for awhile but never found the right words. You conveyed it very well.

claralistensprechen3rd,

@emmaaum @GreenFire The term "anti-semitic" has been hijacked to mean something it wasn't supposed to mean. It is supposed to mean anyone biased against people who are Semitic but the hijackers don't want to recognize that the people indigenous to the Levant, including Palestinians, are Semitic while the people who did the hijacking are Europeans.

emmaaum,
@emmaaum@zirk.us avatar

@claralistensprechen3rd An Austrian Jew-hater coined the phrase in the 19th century to refer specifically to hatred of Jews and recast it in what was then shiny new pseudo-science about race.
It's never referred to any of the other peoples who speak Semitic languages.
As for indigeneity, Jews are those whose ancestors didn't assimilate to Arab culture & religion when the caliphate moved up from the Arabian peninsula.
You're making so much shite up.

claralistensprechen3rd@friendica.myportal.social is an
Iranian focused agitator it seems she is based on how that conversation went along with a previous one I suspect.

Here's a prime example of the level of intellectual debate the anti-Israel movement is capable of right here:

I am interested in seeing if the protesters can actually prove their case enough to refute people like: John Spencer, professor of Urban War Studies at West Point who says, “Israel has done more to prevent civilian casualties in war than any military in history."

This includes, he claims. evacuating 70 to 90 per cent of civilians from cities before beginning a full ground invasion in conventional attacks that seek to destroy enemy soldiers.

"John Spencer, professor of Urban War Studies at West Point who says, “Israel has done more to prevent civilian casualties in war than any military in history.""

This seems a outlier view to me.
I have not seen a similar opinion anywhere in the world.
The is not fighting a regular war but trying to seize and eliminate a terrorist group that hides between millions of innocent civilians. In so doing, the strip has become all but uninhabitable...

...To me, another convential war is the wrong basis. This is, indeed, a "special military operation," in contrast to the one in .

Also, the up to 2 mn Gazans are a fraction of in WWII:

"Nearly sixteen million Soviet civilians and over 1,500 large factories were moved to areas in the middle or eastern part of the country by the end of 1941.[1]"

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Evacuation_in_the_Soviet_Union

What is more, I only heard and read about the IDF giving notice to Gazans...

...to evacuate, not actually providing the means of transport the necessary facilities for them at the intended evacuation target. Quite the contrary, e.g.:
