I just jumped on Twitter to check something, and I immediately started thinking about the 600 limit. There was an uneasiness, a stress. Don't read too many things! Need to keep some "reads" available if needed later!
That unease and uncertainty is classic abuser behavior.
And when he steps in and allows things to go back, Twitter users will feel a gratefulness to him.
@JustMeJanis@Hey_Beth The limit doesn’t really matter if every tweet you scroll past counts as “read.” Which I think is the case, since I hit my “limit” after only a few minutes and having actually read maybe a dozen.
Seeing it work that way, the existence of a limit at all will keep me (and surely others) off Twitter. Too easy to scroll around looking for something and accidentally hit it. Then you’re SOL if an emergency arises.

I know he's buggering it up influencer groups using API.
Many of us immediately thought of the revenue angle but he could also be moving from Google because he won't pay his bill. He has a bad habit of that, not paying.
It's a valuable tool to millions and he's destroying it.
@Hey_Beth He’ll definitely expect gratitude if it ever goes back to being a useable interface but for now it’s just not worth the effort e.g. the read limits, the “cannot load tweet, retry” when trying to expand on a tweet, unable to read replies or follow a thread, also can’t search topics or news etc. It’s just a dead-zoned timeline now and I’m realising how much I depended on Twitter as my main place to sift through news, current affairs and enjoy dialogue with like-minded folk😔
@Hey_Beth 4 times I have been locked down now. Mid conversation too. No warning, just kicked out. I almost feel as if it is my fault for ignoring my Twitter friends, when there is nothing I can do about it. 😥

almost as much stress about birdsite as i felt back in march. like for a couple days i'd rather have went back to sleep than went online, and that's coming from someone who's made the internet his lifeblood.
that's how much of a hellscape everything has become.
@Hey_Beth probably the reason he likes TFG so much bc they are so alike. He had the nerve to say that his position had stayed in the same place while Dems moved to radical left.
@Hey_Beth Look into intensive trauma therapy for all who are willing. I am not saying scary words to make you worry. The whole world has trauma, but foster kids have fresh wounds and families are not equipped to manage the fallout.
There is wholesome healing for all with some challenging new skills that need to be practiced by everyone. Your foster is your gift 💝

@Hey_Beth I’m not sure how true the story is, but, I saw reports Twitter owed payment to Google for their cloud services. Payment was due to Google yesterday. He caused the slow down in service by not paying his bills.
@Hey_Beth Yes, I’ve been avoiding Twitter (even tho it’ll let me back in now) because I’m afraid I’ll use up my limited tweet-views and then be SOL if an emergency happens.
I’m assuming every tweet I scroll past is considered “read,” so I don’t even want to open it.
No danger of me feeling grateful if he fixes it, though. He should fix it and be grateful himself. He owes the world a lot.
@Hey_Beth I got booted off Twit shortly after musky bought it. I had made a post I meant to be humorous, but was not deemed to be by the blue gods. I didn’t bother to appeal. So sad. 😢
@Hey_Beth And everyone better hope there isn't a local emergency. Most government agencies over the years before Elon's purchase switched to Twitter to keep people safe and informed.
@Hey_Beth that’s how sociopaths act. The DSMIV-R says “Symptoms may include disregard for others, a lack of empathy, and dishonest behavior.” And there is no medication for this.
